I couldn´t find this threat with the browser.

I read that the best choice will be a mahogany neck and the worst a maple, i couldnt find the combination mahogany body with maple neck it seems that this combination battle with some frequencies, is this true? i was thinking about ordering a

-3Aflame maple full neck

-mahogany with goncalo alves fingerboard

-mahogany with flame maple fingerboard(this combination it´s not valid with the neck builder, i wonder why...)

this is my first thread hope not to repeat topics or ask silly questions!! thanks in advance!

There is no best/worst combination. It depends on which frequencies you want to lose and is more dependent on the neck than the body.

Generally speaking, the harder/stiffer the wood, the more it allows higher frequencies to ring and the more articulate it will be. So, Maple being pretty hard, it's going to sound brighter, while at the opposite end of the scale Mahogany will absorb the high end and result in a darker/warmer tone.

If you review the neck woods chart, you can get some idea of the effect different woods will have.

You won't find Maple fingerboards on anything but Maple necks. It's an unusual wood in that it's a dense, hard, closed cell wood that still reacts pretty wildly to changes in humidity and will warp/twist very easily unless it's finished and thus sealed against the environment. Every once in a blue moon they'll make up some necks that way and put them in the showcase, but don't hold your breath while waiting for them. You're liable to suffocate. They're rare, is what I'm saying.

There are plenty of guitars out there with mahogany bodies and maple necks. There is no battling of frequencies between different woods, they compliment eachother's frequencies.

It all depends on how you want you guitar to sound. It's only good or bad if you decide it is after hearing/playing it.

I have that combo with an ebony fretboard , works great .  Also have a padouk/ebony on mahagony .. no worries

I just completed a mahogany bodied tele with a flamed maple neck with pau ferro finger board.  Played it for the first time last night.  I think this is my new favorite guitar!  I have about 10.  This includes a Gretsch solid body (same construction, mahogany with maple neck), a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top, a Fender Strat, a Warmoth Maple bodied and Maple necked (rosewood finger board) Tele, and this new one is just flat out awesome.

I don't know if it is so much the wood or the pickups (DiMarzio Area T's), the fit between the neck and the bodiy, or what  but I really don't care.  It sounds great!  Sustain, sustain, ssssssssssssustain.  Great mellow tone but some great raunch when pushed.  Twangy when wanted yet full when needed.

I'll be trying to post pictures soon but there is a start of the thread under "Just out ot the box" and it's "New Tele Just Arrived"  Take a look.  (Body is flame maple topped which should not have an impact on the sound.)

All of the warmoths I've built have been Mahogany with Maple necks - plain, flamed, and birdseye.  You get the warmth and sustain of the mahogany with the added clarity of the maple neck.  I think it's the perfect combo and is able to handle all styles of music without compromise.

+1 I have a maple neck/ebony board on mahog body and it's one of my most balanced sounding.

Consider a raw neck. They come in all different flavors, and almost all species feel better than a nasty satin or gloss.
