Here is a Lake Placid Blue Telemaster with matching headstock for smjenkins. We started with an ash body but that was sent back and replaced with an alder body. The alder is a much better platform for a metallic finish.
Here is the finish schedule.
1. Prep body including fixing a major ding put in the top horn during shipping. I used wood bondo for the fix.
2. Past filler. I know alder does not usually get paste filler but it will suck up finish for days if it is not filled so I did it on this one because it is a metallic.
3. 2 coats of lacquer sanded back to level.
4. 2 light coats of pigmented white gloss lacquer level sanded.
5. Lake Placid Blue.
Next it will get a couple of coats of clear and then after a couple of weeks cure I’ll tape it off and add the Sonic Blue racing stripes.
The headstock was done the same way except I skipped the filler on the maple.
