Check out what came in the mail today!

I've been instructed to inform everyone that these do not officially exist, and are prototypes and not finalized designs, and that I am assisting in the testing process so you can't buy these anywhere yet.

The flats are just for fun. Once I figure out how to record something without it buzzing like mad, and if TT clears it, I'm going to record some A/B tests with rounds and flats on both the Duncan Quarter Pounders and these Roadhouse pups.

Try being in the room with them and not being able to play them. To avoid lots of attempted soldering I am trying to record the Duncans first before I install these, as I'm pretty sure I won't want to take them back out. Its to the point now, possibly due to the 15" speaker, where if I get the laptop close enough to the amp to plug it in the Mac goes all wonky and I can't click anything. My kingdom for an easily repairable $300 POS running XP!

I said F it and found a spot where I can use the webcam mic to some effect. Anyways. Recorded the Duncans with rounds and flats.. Why haven't I played flats before? Murphy is so smooth with those things! Also, the silk wrapping stuff magically was close to Sonic Blue.

Right now the Duncan is removed and I'm waiting on some bits to cool down before I go about trying to un-heat-shrink-tubing-ify the rest of the old stuff.

Installed, making final tweaks.. I don't know how to describe tone very well, but they sound quite a bit like this:

Time to sleep...

I sent the horrible clips to TroubledTreble, and I think he's going to host them for show-and-tell.

I apologize for the following horrid attempt at playing. In all three clips the only thing that changed was the strings (noted) and the pickups (also noted.) The bass and amp knobs all stayed the same. It does distort a few times and hum a bit, that's due to the webcam mic and not the pickups.

This is about the pickups, not my 4AM playing or recording abilities... please be gentle.  :binkybaby:
