Locking Tuners for a Les Paul

hoping somebody can help me out... cash is running low, so instead of taking my GAS out on a new guitar i've decided to upgrade my Gibson Les Paul.

i'm already planning on getting the TonePros TOM bridge with Graph Tech saddles and possibly a TP-6 bridge with fine tuners.

now i'm looking around for a decent set of locking tuners. i miss the convenience of them, and honestly really despise taking the time to change my strings after using locking tuners for so long. so my question: does anybody know of a good set of locking tuners that would retrofit my BFG's tuners? the tuners now are modern gotoh tuners, so vintage style won't fit (plus i'm really not a fan of the look). my first thought was the Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners. i had them on an old beat up SG i had a couple years ago, and thought they worked well enough, but never great. i may end up going with the same tuners, but i wanted to see if there are any more options out there.

doing google searches brought up the trimlok's and some schallers on ebay, but the seller didn't say what size the posts were. i believe (PLEASE please correct me if i'm wrong) they need to be 3/8" in size. any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks

here's the ebay listing for the schaller tuning pegs

and the sperzel's i've used before.

the sperzel's should retrofit, but don't feel perfect. the only reason i don't know how well they fit is they were installed already on a guitar i bought used. and installed wrong, so i had to have them moved. if at all possible i'd like the screw to line up as well as the peg holes be the same, but that might be a sacrifice i have to make.

I have the Schaller Locking Chrome Tuners on one of my strats and I love em'.  They making restringing a cinch and the knurled knob is easy to crank down tight.
They take the same size hole as the Planet Waves; 13/32.
Good luck on your upgrade...
:rock-on:

Does it have Gotohs or Grovers?  Pretty much either way, I think they both have the screw in type bushing instead of the vintage style.  You can probably get the same brand of what you have now that will line up exactly.  Got a pic?

I've never been let down with Sperzels.
Hipshot is now making locking tuners too. They are worth taking a look at, but they are little expensive.

I have never played locking grovers, seems wierd to me.
I vote sperzel

here's the picture of my headstock. sorry for the awful quality; all my digital cameras have slowly been dying and i'm down to the webcam on my laptop  :icon_biggrin:

like i said, i love for it to retrofit (i'd rather not have to drill new holes for the screws) but if it doesn't i'm ok with that. just as long as i don't need to change the peghole size and it works well! thanks again for the suggestions everybody!

Those are Grovers, dude. I know for a FACT Grover makes locking pegs with thumbwheels, A'la Sperzel and Schaller...not sure about the black though. I've not seen black locking grovers. To keep the same style pegs will mean to go chrome!
BLING!

yeah i realized i said gotoh. i get them mixed up way WAY too often haha but thanks! i'll definitely be looking into grover locking tuners. and i'm definitely going for chrome. i wanted black, but the bridge i was looking for only comes in gold or chrome, and i'm not a gold guy  :-\  but i think chrome will look pretty awesome! thanks for the help, dude

Sweet! The bridge thing works in your favor then, cause you'll chrome out!

not a gold guy...few people are.

Rock on!
