The idea to the song is based on video material I have made from the Northwest Highlands this year. Although it rained very lousy the whole time, this landscape has an atmospheric depth which is very appealing.
Put lots of thoughts into what the musical basis for the song could be. The answer was given to me by chance through a Jimi Hendrix documentation on TV while listening to Little wing :icon_biggrin:
The recording picks up Little Wing as a theme where I have thrown in my own stuff. So the outcome is not a Little Wing cover.
The guitar tracks were recorded with my Marshall JVM410h (with a power attenuator) and a JDX DI-box from Radial. For the clean guitars parts I used the Clean/Green-mode. All the rest is recorded with the Crunch/Orange-mode. This mode is very versatile and works well with a Tubescreamer effect from my Fractal FX8 multiFX.
I also used the rotary effect from the FX8 in one leadpart. This effect sounds nice to me.
I recorded the guitar tracks with a moded Line6 JTV69 (Warmoth neck and Kinman/Doug Aldrich pus) and a Warmoth-built.
For the drums I used EZ Drummer 2 from Toontrack music. Pretty easy and versatile drum tool.
As always I am not 100% happy with my recording. But at a certain point it is better to finish than to continue :icon_biggrin:
Have fun while watching:
