Unfortunately I can not find the Lollar pickups for sale in my area.
I know that this is a really stupid question, but.... what pickup - another brand - is comparable to the Lollar humbuckers that can be heard in this video?

Just order them. Apparently, Lollar sells them direct here. For what they cost, I don't imagine too many brick & mortar stores are going to stock them because they probably wouldn't move very quickly.

I can confirm that they ship from the Lollar website quickly.  I ordered some jazzmaster pus and I received them 2 days later.

Unless you know of some reason such gear can't be imported, you could get somebody here to order the parts and re-ship them to you. I used to do it with computer parts for a couple friends in Thailand. It adds a lot of lead time to getting the stuff, but it's often worth it. Oddly enough, even though most computer equipment is made in the far east, it's much more expensive there than it is here even after having been shipped halfway around the world. Mail-order and online firms generally don't ship to unusual places like that because it requires physically walking the package through the system and filling out export and value forms, which would be unreasonably expensive and time-comsuming for an employee. If it became well-known that they would do it, it could get out of hand quickly. That's why I stopped doing it.

But, if you have friends or family someplace where these pickups are sold, you might be able to get them to help you out. Use Paypal to send them the money to do it all, then just sit back and wait.

Thanks for your advice, I had thought but...  maybe it's better if I try something else.
Maybe I go on Suhr pickups  :occasion14:

I have one of those Baker guitars.  From about ten years ago, when he was still making guitars under the "Baker" name (and before Ed Roman took over the company).  It hasn't seen much use at all in the last year or so, maybe i need to bust it out again...

BTW, the model i have is called the Baker Junior, which he rather regrettably shortened and called it a Baker BJ...  :laughing7:  I turn into a 12-year-old everytime i pick up the guitar and say (in my Beavis and Butthead voice) "haha, BJ...."

A lot of manufacturers will make PAF sounding humbuckers, it's a big market out there. DiMarzio, Duncan are probably the two biggest. Their website contain sound bytes so maybe go through their websites and find which one sounds the closest to that clip you posted? :icon_thumright:

I've heard (and downloaded :laughing7:)
Nothing sounds so raw and *naked * as these Lollar...

Jason has some distributors in Italy.

I have Lollars on my Warmoth Tele, Warmoth Strat, Warmoth Jazz Bass, and even my G&L S-500.  I am also considering the Imperial Humbucker for a mahogany or maybe black korina bodied Warmoth project.

Yeah they sound good, but that's like the most generic humbucker sound ever. Not to be a downer, but why spend such an absurd amount of money (did I really see $165 a piece on their website?) when you could get a set of great pickups from another highly regarded manufacturer for less?
Some seriously great players with great tone play your run of the mill guitars with run of the mill parts and electronics. I just could not condone that kind of boutique spending. I think it's all in your head and you're going to THINK they sound better because they cost more and some guy talked them up in a video.

I don't think he said they sound better because the cost more.  I think he said they sound better and he wants them.  To me it is a no brainer to get the best pickup.  The slightly higher price is irrelevant in the context of a guitar build.  The pickups are pretty much one of the most important pieces.  I have tried Dimarzios and Duncans and despite their countless varieties, the Lollars win out for being sweet and transparent, letting the body and neck wood shine, and letting the effects and amp do the rest.

Agree to disagree on this point.  I have a set of Lollar Imperial Low Winds in my Baker, when i put them in they replaced a good set of DiMarzio's.  The Lollars are absolutely, unequivocally 1,000,000x better sounding.  Not generic at all, in fact far from it.  They are incredibly detailed and full of snappy, vintage tone.  I've never heard a humbucker sound that alive (and i've heard quite a few).

Of course, it's all subjective, and what works for me may not work for someone else and vice versa, but to my taste, 'generic' isn't a word i would ever think of to describe the Imperials.
