Lights In Guitar

Ok, so this might be a really dumb topic/question: Has anybody ever wired a neon light (like the Ibanez Jem 20th Anniversary Edition) into a guitar or bass? I am currently updating my old Squire Bronco bass and was thinking of making it look ...well different, by adding a light of some sorts inside the guitar. Let me know if anybody knows how to wire this up, if it needs a battery or whatnot. Thanks for your help.

Have not tried it before, but one thing you might want to consider trying is busting apart one of those keychain LED lights. It would be prewired and would last forever; you would just have to modify it a bit.

sims can put lights in your guitar...

but to be completly honest with you, i wouldnt do it on a squier...
get a fancy guitar and do it on that.

-1, I think this is a bad idea.  It won't last forever and that battery is going to be a pain to replace.  You'll have to build your own clip as the keychains are just held together by their case.

Come to think of it, I think the lights are a bad idea overall, but if you want to do it get some nicer LEDs from radioshack and wire them in parallel with each other, then wire the whole thing in series with a resistor (22K?) and a 9V.

Eh, its just a little side project for me to do. I looked up the wiring schematic for the JEM 20th Anniversary and it doesnt look tooooo difficult.

are you talking about that (green?, i cant remember right now) light inside the body of the clear acrylic body JEM?

if so, i dont think that this kind of thing will work to well in a wooden body, you would need to go for an acrylic body.

i originally thought that you were refering to the lights on the inlays, like the blue ones on MOJO.

Lights eh?

I saw this guitar somewhere on You tube where there were sensors i the neck which hooked up to LED lights that Covered the guitar, each note you played, which is were the neck sensors come in, light up a different section of lights on the body and head.  Looked awesome.!

I like that idea it shouldnt be too terribly hard to wire up jsut connect all of them and run them with a on/off switch like a gibson 3 way or something, Maybe get a plexi pickguard and run the lights through it, you could even get crazy and do some kind of writing like the cover of a hughes and kettner triamp mkII http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Hughes-Kettner-Triamp-MK-II-Tube-Guitar-Amplifier-Head?sku=480468
