lefty bridge, righty tele

Has anyone put a left hand bridge on a right hand tele, or strung up a lefty as righty? I'm wondering if the low strings would be too harsh or too bright?

Depends on the pickup. On a typical Tele with a "standard" Tele pickup, I suspect it would sound the same as any typical Tele - like you were chewing on tinfoil while somebody jammed an icepick in your ear.

But, it doesn't have to be that way.

Put a humbucker down there, or any of dozens of aftermarket single coils, and it'll be fine.

But, that's just me. I hate typical Teles with "standard" pickups.

I thought reversed Tele bridge pickups were rumored to sound better?
The same goes with reverse Strat bridge pickups and split coil P bass pickups.

Rumors, Schmumors. Sound/tone/character are all subjective. One man's glorious result is another man's nightmare. Then, there are so many variables in a guitar that you never know and certainly can't predict with any accuracy what something is going to sound like or if you'll appreciate it. You pays yer munny and you makes yer choice. If you don't like it, you can always change it. As long as the thing plays well, the way it sounds is almost infinitely variable.
