Hey.

I'm almost ready to start finish the body (ash + canary top).
I want to do it in tung oil, and the posts here says to cut the first coats 50/50 with thinner - in my case I have mineral spirits on hand.
However, I'm wondering if this would have any ill effect on the glue between the body and the laminate top????

I hope not..
I used it with tung oil on a laminate top once, and had no issues... not sure if there will be any on the longer term... :sad1:

Hopefully one of the Warmoth guys, who knows exactly what their adhesive is,  will chime in with something definitive.

But, given that they know their products will be exposed to a wide range of solvents (mineral spirits, lacquer thinner, alcohol, etc.) I doubt they are using anything that would be adversely affected by such exposure.

So long as you don't leave the piece floating in a pan of the stuff overnight you should be fine.

if mineral spirits were a problem, washing the wood in lacquer thinner, naphtha would be a real issue to toss fur over, but it ain't
