ok - so, I think this is my second post on here; I often while away some company time lgoing through the threads though...
I'm originally from London, but have lived for 4 years in Prague, Czech Republic. I've bought some cool guitars here, including an '91 Ibanez IC500 and a '94 PGM500CA. Makes you wonder how they ended up here, as there was trade restrictions and all sorts until relatively recently. Anyway, last week I saw the attached guitar advertised privately for about 100GBP. After having a look at it I pulled the trigger, as despite looking pretty rough I thought it had potential. The specs (as far as I can work out) are as follows:
1 piece custom (home?) made mahogany body, white nitro paint job which has aged / yellowed beautifully (will post some pics that I've taken soon)
80's/90's/more recent (unsure, but looks and feels old) 22 fret Kramer neck
Seymour Duncan SH13 Dimebag Humbucker
Hot Rails (unknown make - havent stripped it down yet)
''Floyd'' - interestingly it seems to be an unbranded copy - BUT, its machined, not cast like the cheaper ones. Any ideas?
So, thats the good bits. Now the bad.
The neck doesnt fit! Theres about a 3/4'' gap between the end of the heel and the start of the neck pocket
Rubbish tuners have been added, original holes are still visible
What I'm thinking to do is this:
Transplant the neck onto a Warmoth tele body (carved top, possibly white? Ideas please
) ) add floyd and angled humbucker.
Fit maple/maple Jackson reverse neck onto existing body.
Any comments / suggestions are welcome! Btw, this is going to be a long-term project(s) so bear with me for pics / progress.
