You could even finish it natural with a clear of some sort.

post a photo of the back.  I would not do a burst...it would cover too much of the sides of the top.  Any trans finish would do....I second the aqua comment

That really is a sweet color combo!  Do you know what's that called?

Here is a pic of the back.  Very nice grain, nothing too wild.  I won't be doing it in transparent brown or anything dark either.

My project Strat for the Rail Tail is a Mary Kaye finish over a Swamp Ash body. It's a great combination.

Thank you. The ash body for that Tele I picked out with the idea of doing it as a natural type finish.

Also the translucent finishes mentioned would work. Perhaps also a pale transparent butterscotch, might work. It depends of course on the look your going for.

But after seeing the back of that guitar I would be real tempted to do it with a natural finish.
