You all know how it is, sometimes they put one in the Showcase that won't let you sleep at night. Until you can post it here.
Introducing The Daphne Tele.  :hello2:

I always liked Daphne Blue. Reminds me of Ranny Earls '61 Impala convertible.

And when they double bound it in white, it was just the straw that broke the bank.

Started life with a mini bucker in the neck.

But I prefer the full size.

So there you have it. I apologize for the lame photos, best I can do without sunshine.
More picks here;

I can tell that's gonna be a beauty already. I love double-bound Teles.

Thanks Cagey. It just got to where I couldn't resist any longer. :toothy11: Only problem I can see at this point is that my "vision" has this guitar with a maple neck, and I've been pretty much a burnished raw neck sort of guy lately.
But it's early in the game so I'm sure time will resolve all conflicts.

Get a roasted Maple neck, fretboard and neck meat both. They don't charge much of a premium for them, and they look/sound much like a regular Maple neck, albeit just a tad darker in appearance (not sound). Still, a beautiful piece of wood, doesn't require a finish, and feels like pure sex when burnished. I think it would look fabulous on that body.

If you order it with fret slots only, rather than let them fret it, you can burnish the fretboard as well. And since you're gonna burnish it, you get it without a nut as well. Between the savings on the nut and frets, you'll pay for almost half of what it will cost to get the neck properly set up. I know a guy...

Lovely body you got there, Hbom.

I agree with Cagey re: the neck.  Might I suggest:

1st  I apologize for my pics not being there this morning. I'm not sure what the problem is at photobucket but hopefully they will fix it soon.

Thank you guys for your comments.

I don't think that roasted maple is the right one for this project. Looks too orange to me. I might go with a canary if I find the right one but right now there aren't any that fit.

There's a cute little white ebony neck that might work but pretty much out of my league price wise. And probably too heavy for this body.

"The vision" on this one is a flame maple neck with the headstock face painted Daphne Blue. But since W won't do a painted HS unless they paint the body at the same time, I'm not sure I can work that out.

But it's early in the game. Much of my enjoyment on these projects comes from the hunt. Searching out the correct parts and arguing with myself as to whether they ARE the correct parts is part of the process.

Give them a call - shouldn't be a problem. The 'only do it at the same time' thing is more for bursts and dyes etc.

FatPete,
Thanks man. You made my day. I just talked to Spike at Warmoth and he said I was confused. :icon_scratch: Imagine that.

They prefer to do body & neck at the same time but will do the headstock no problem as long as I understand the obvious. They will do their fantastic job as they always do, the paint should be a very close match. Seems fair & honest to me.

So I'm a step closer.
Thanks again.

FWIW both my Warmoth Teles were ready-painted showcase bodies paired with custom order necks. The sonic blue one has the whole neck painted so that would show up any difference pretty clearly. I haven't checked it out with a spectrometer, but to my eyes (which still work ok), neck and body are the same colour.

As you'll have a 16 inches of neck between the headstock and body, I really don't think you need to worry - at all.

I'll also add that Warmoth do an absolutely perfect masking job. Cagey described my candy red headstock face as looking like a veneer, the line is so clean. I have a solid colour one which is perfect too. Also, check out Verne Bunsen's Mustang - his current work in progress thread - for another great example.

'Struth. I've had a couple other necks come through here that were the same way. Almost doesn't look possible, it's so good.

Same with the veneers. Almost looks like an optical illusion. Face on, it's one thing. Off sides, it's another.
