Just a Mustang

Picked out this body from the showcase, pretty basic.  Notice the pickguard has "fat" humbucker cutouts, that's a special request (I think it should be a standard option, but whatever).  It arrived a week or two ago but I still haven't decided on a color yet.

Welcome to the board!

Haven't seen a lot of Mustangs lately. A quick peek at a Google image search would give one the impression that the majority of 'Stangers were red or blue, many with racing stripes.

Mustang car first made 1964.  Mustang guitar first made 1965.  Fender bought and used paint for cars.  Cars have fenders.  Guitar rhymes with Car.  Fender starts with F.  Ford starts with F.  Any shiny car color scheme, with chrome or black hardware.  How about Candy Apple Red, with black pinstripe, black hardware? Or lake placid blue, white pinstripe z 28 style, chrome hardware .... Varooooom!

Yes!  We never see any Mustang build!  I've been considering one myself for a while.  Looking forward to seeing how it comes out!  I think a metallic, metallic burst or candy would be pretty cool...

I on-n-off wanna build a 'stang with a rosewood & maple/shell-pink/tortoise shell/cream/chrome color-scheme... but ya already paid for the special order 'guard in MoP, so I guess it's too late to go that route!  :laughing7:

My runner-up vote would be for seafoam-green (-or maybe surf-green), as is so wonderfully demonstrated by this googled pic if a Jag with said color-scheme:

I think these guitars work best in a solid colour. Your example looks gorgeous.

Probably the worst topic title ever, definitely not 'just a Mustang'!

Thanks for the ideas, I'll probably start with something simple, still too many choices...

Yep. -Agreed about the solid colors. Even though the examples I'm finding aren't Mustangs, they are from that section of Fender's timeline where everything had lotsa chrome plates and weird trems with top-routed cavities; they all demonstrate the look well enough that the imagination can translate it to the 'stang easily.

Here's the color-scheme for my Mustang (-if I ever build it):

-Or, heck! -Maybe I should just put together a Bass VI! (...Crap! -Now I've got GAS!)
