Jazzmasters with laminate tops:

Has anyone got any pictures of such things?  I'm particularly interested in tops that contrast with the rest of the body.  Even better if they have binding of some kind!

I'm mulling over a JM build that will involve a rich red back (Padauk or stained Mahogany, perhaps) and something like a British Racing Green top.

It's inspired by this rather beautiful Gretsch:

The basic idea looks great in my head but I'm having a hard time imagining how the dividing line between the top and back will look.  It'd help a lot if I could see some laminate top (preferably bound) JMs!

Thanks all.

A Candy Tangerine top with Candy Turquoise back, separated with binding would look great.

That would be pretty awesome.
Or, the other way around, as well.

Would look great! I'd love to see one.

PS: Hint hint, make one!

Oh, I intend to! :) It'll be my first build.  I won't do everything myself.  I know a good luthier who'll put it together and set it up but I should be able to do the routing, staining, finishing (hoping to use woods that require little finishing) and probably wiring too.

Aesthetically speaking it'll be a hybrid of:

and:

but with Jaguar hardware:

using the Jag 3-switch gizmo to toggle three pickups: JM pickups in the bridge and neck and some kind of humbucker (I'm thinking maybe a filtertron-style one) in the middle.

So far so good!

The only problem is that Warmoth don't do binding on any JM except for masked binding and I want to do the finishing myself (their dark green isn't quite right and I want a satin finish).  So I'll probably have to do some kind masked binding myself.  Maybe get the deepest black stain I can and add a distinguishing line between the top and body.

Then again, this strat looks fine with the two colours and no binding:

The JM is curvier but...we'll see.  I think I'll only know for sure what to do when I've got the wood in front of me.
