Jazzmaster / split pickguard question

Can one put a regular Jazzmaster pickguard (not routed for all the weird switches, just a vol and tone and toggle) on a showcase Jazzmaster routed for a split pickguard?  Basically, I guess I don't see the difference in the bodies except for the lack of slider switches above the strings.  Thanks!

In the link that Pete provided,

http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Bodies/Vintage/SplitJazzmaster.aspx

Warmoth has specifically written:

Note: This body is meant for use with the Warmoth Split Jazzmaster® Pickguards. Standard Jazzmaster® pickguards or other brand pickguards will not retrofit to this body.

It also notes that they have altered the top routing to accommodate the split pickguard.

I don't have one so I can't give specific reasons why.  I'm just going by what the Warmoth site says.

I think the quote from the Warmoth site is referring to Fender™ and other manufacturers' pickguards, as the Warmoth body is not built and routed exactly to the Fender™ specs. Worth a call into their sales dept to get a definite answer, though.

And consider this my introduction. Hi. I'm also looking to build the split JM in the summer... just trying to thin my herd to make room. Dressing Room pics soon.

Thanks to everybody here for the awesome forum. It's really a treat to find like-minded folks who are all supportive of one another's endeavours.

Peace,
Andrew
