Can't tell. I've seen better pictures of the Loch Ness monster.

But, if you look at the jack from the side, you can usually tell which tang is attached to the tip contact (the one that's sticking up and clamps onto the end of the plug). That's the hot connection.

I edited my post, so you might miss it. What I said was if you look at the jack from the side, you can usually tell which tang is attached to the tip contact (the one that's sticking up and clamps onto the end of the plug). That's the hot connection.

Incidentally, most camera phones are capable of much better pictures than people take, but they're heavily reliant on good lighting. If you must shoot indoors, get under a lamp or a flashlight or something so the subject is well-lit, and the results will improve dramatically.

True the phone probably isn't fully to blame however its like 5 years old so it is pretty rubbish. Im pretty sure I've got it right it looks like the one I've wired as hot is attached the bigger pin that sticks up.

Well, if you got it backwards, you'll know the first time you plug it in. Touching any metal part of the guitar will bring up the noise level to deafening.

Cagey beat me to it.

I was going to say that the noise will let you know right away. (I wired my first jack backwards)
