This guitar has a sad face and will only emit sad tones :(

Haters gonna hate, but that V is amazing!  I don't know enough about the various eras of Gibson quality to know if 1980 was a "good" year or not, but that thing clearly had some nice craftsmanship.  I'd rock that in an instant.

I'll vote cool. But I'll also vote that I wouldn't buy that one. If I'm buying a V, it'll be a Jackson RR style, but if someone were generous enough to give that one to me...  Father's Day is coming up after all.

I disagree. The wood is poorly matched. I expect better of instruments with natural finishes. :dontknow:

not sure if it is korina.

i think it is very cool. especially the tiny belly contour, the tiny v bridge stop, not to mention the v pickups.

Yea, I am diggin' it!  I am especially fond of the black & white ebony fingerboard...

I took your advise Doug regarding Atilla and his wood bound necks.  He did a flame maple bound neck to match the natural binding on the black dyed LP I picked up during the closeout.  It is in the mail and should land in Phoenix next week.  Great recommendation Doug :icon_thumright:
:rock-on:

I remember seeing them when they first came out. The V shaped pickups are twang monsters, not the usual 'desolation & distortion' humbucker that is seen on Vees. There's some threads on other forums around, about these, I think I read the split coils within those Boomerang casings are similar to the P-Bass pickup and wired in parallel, with the resultant clean twang tone. There's probably a few YT videos up about them.

Here's a Wiki link which says the body is  sandwich of Maple & Walnut.
