Is it possible?

I was wondering if it was possible, for Warmoth to re-rout an unfinished showcase strat neck pocket, for a tele neck pocket; or would you just have to buy it and do it yourself

I'm pretty sure they can turn a Strat pocket into a Tele pocket, but it'll probably cost you $45. The reverse cannot be done - the wood's gone at that point.

Also, you should be aware that you can put a Strat neck into a Tele pocket without modification, and you can also get Tele necks with Strat heels.

Finally, you can get a Strat headstock re-cut to a Warhead headstock for $45, which is sort of a thinner Strat headstock so you get a little Tele vibe without the Tele ugliness. That opens up a world of choices, because they make a wide variety of Strat necks by the truckload every week. Then you wouldn't have to have your neck pocket modified, if you've already committed to a body.

Edit: Y'know... now that I look at the three next to each other, I'll bet they could cut a Tele headstock out of a Strat headstock, too. Although, they also make a lotta Tele necks so it's probably never really necessary. Warheads, on the other hand, are pretty thin on the ground. All the more reason to get one. Nobody else makes 'em, so it'd be unique.

Someone needs to do a doublneck warhead and call it MIRV (since it has multiple warheads).

Hehe! Yeah, that would be... incendiary <grin>

That sounds like it would be a big hit :toothy12:

Thanks, i wanted to get a one-piece alder body, but wanted a tele neck for it.

I'm a big fan of "the only good glue joint is a non-existent one" school of thought, but Warmoth isn't like some manufacturers I could mention who'll slobber together 9-piece bodies out of mill ends, run it through a thickness planer and a table sander and say it's an "all maple body!" They're usually a 2-piece affair, and I don't think you really suffer with those.

The one piece body, isn't that much more expensive than the 2 piece, and it has a nice grain.

Call 'em. See what they say. It's not like calling most places - they actually answer the phone... with a human! And 99 times out of 100, it's one of the sales guys, who are all quite good at what they do. You're not going to spend any time on hold or a lotta time on goofing around. Ask a question, get an answer, and you're off. Even if you're calling from outside the US, you're probably only looking at a couple minutes so it's not going to cost you much.

"MIRV stands for Mutiple Independent Re-entry Vehicles.
Usualy armed with nuclear warheads that are launched from a single missle that once in space, split into 6, 12, warheads that decend back to Earth and go to independent targets at once."

I googled it  :icon_thumright:

Don't worry about what it is Doug, just rest assured that the guitar would require two neck plates.  :icon_biggrin:

I might get you to do a custom neck plate for me eventually ( if I have any money left over)    :sad1:
