Hi all!
I'm a new poster, and I hope this is in the right area.
My first guitar was a frankenstein'd telecaster, with all non legit parts. But, I loved it to death and I really felt like I learned a lot with it.
Right now, I've been playing an Ibanez RG6003FM and I'm absolutely in love with it. Fantastic guitar, and probably the best out of the $300 range if you ask me. But, I'd love to bring the Telecaster back into use as well.
The main issues with the telecaster are the neck and the bridge.
The neck has some chips in it, and I think it's a little warped. It's also a little thicker than I'd like, especially after playing the Ibanez. The bridge is junky and is set all the way down...the screws out of it jab into my hand when I play / palm mute. But, it has to be like that for the action to not be total garbage.
So, what I'd love to do, is get a wizard style neck on it and a new bridge. However, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of variables at play. Different bolt slots, 22/24 frets making a difference, etc. I've figured out that a 24 fret neck pretty much won't work with the tele body, right? That's fine. What I really want to do with it is get a 7 string pack, then put them all on except the highest string, so it'd be bassy and good for chords.
So, anyways. That's what I'm looking at right now. I'd love to buy a Warmoth neck and get to work on it, but I feel like there's a lot at play here and I want to know what I'm dealing with before I go making any rash purchases. I'm about to start my senior year of college and I don't want to waste any money. :icon_tongue:
