Saturday I had to go play out, we had a outdoor bring out the big amp gig
I brought out the Vox, got to crank it which I rarely get to do, 120 watts, that is 2 channels of stereo 60 watts into a 4x12 cabinet of pure British amplifier perfection.

so as it was going be a marathon gig, I brought out my Mollenhauer g35, My Fender AM Strat, my PRS triple soapbar and BARNDOOR

Around 2 O'clock we take the stage for our first set, ( 3 bands as the party is going on till well past midnight) and I pull out BARNDOOR

GUYS, I want to cry, that neck, man it is sweeter than a red headed virgins lips, I played  that axe for hours, I can tell you now, Raw Goncola 1 piece is so F(*)&*G sweet to play. I had to get out a few songs I needed the others for the tone, but I kept going back to that neck, I will tell you the feel, is it the compound radius or just the raw unfinished smoothness, I do not know but that axe is something the others are calling for a break and you look up and say, " Ah Guys, I am just getting warmed up !"

I now know what everyone  has been preaching here, Raw necks and you feel every vibration and work each nuance of a tremolo, the sound connects with your hand and you go off. Besides you lead breaks I am comping while my band mate takes his leads and I start to comp out higher and higher inversions and suddenly realise I am infront of the him as he is taking a solo, driving my headstock strait down squeezing out a dom Bb 9th chord as I pile drive it into the ground and he is responding with riffs he is grasping to preform and the bass play is on his knees trying to keep up.  We did a 20 minute version of "strangle hold" that had the dance floor sweating and afterward were presented with a few nice trays of shooters.  That neck makes me go insane it is so easy to play.  Oh, I think I need a safe to keep her in as there are some guys seriously eying BARNDOOR.

You won't get any argument out of me about raw necks. I have a couple/few that I wouldn't trade for the love of money. But, what truly makes Warmoth necks awesome is their inspirational quality, which is what you're alluding to. They're just excellent pieces of work. You can't help but want to keep on cranking on the things because they don't get in your way. There's nothing stopping you but your own talent. You can get that just as easily on their finished necks, as long as you don't have physical problems with finishes (some guys have sweaty palms).

My point is, you don't have to fight the instrument, which is crucial to creativity, inventiveness, originality, character and tone. It's not that it's made of Ebony on Goncalo Alves or Pau Ferro, it's that the thing isn't fighting you. It's all you, which is just magical.

I'm finding the same thing as you Jusatele with my first Warmoth and it's raw canary neck. It's the most amazing thing about a truely great guitar. I'm no great player by any means but I'm starting to see where other instruments have let me down in the past, as well as what I most need to work on with my technique.

Having a great instrument is helping me make some big strides toward becoming the player I want to be  :cool01:

RAW NECKS ROCK  :headbang1:

Perzactly. There's no excuse. You can't blame the instrument. You have to own your problems, which forces you to eliminate them. On the plus side, it's easy to do on a fine instrument. Try learning how to fret accurately on an old Silvertone or something. Can't do it.

I'm convinced that's why many players give up at a young age. Their well-meaning parents buy them some unplayable blister-pak POS from Guitar Center that comes with it's own strap, a gig bag, an all-you-can-eat learn-it-all-in-14-days DVD and a FREE PICK! because they can get away with $89 for the whole shebang. Then they wonder why the thing ends up collecting dust in the closet or under the bed.

Of course I have to read this right when I'm getting all my credit cards payed down. That's it, man. I'm getting something raw.

You won't be sorry. Let me put my vote in now for an ebony over pau ferro neck with stainless frets. Pure sex. Makes anything you'll pick up in any store feel like yard waste.

Did we see pictures of "Barndoor" posted somewhere on this site? Was it voted Guitar of the Month (Tele)???

I second the Warmoth Mother: Inspiration through superior craftsmanship.
