i notice that in the dirty harry tele pick ups if you order single they come one way but if you bey them in a set the neck is RWRP. What is the advantage tone or sound wise to this. I know in a strat if the middle is that way is cancles any hum. But what does it do with two pick ups. The same thing?

lets make a list
if you have a 5 way switch and 3 single coils with the middle being rwrp.

first position:  neck pup only
2nd: neck and middle hum canceling
3rd: middle only
4th: middle and bridge hum canceling
5th: bridge only.

(middle is rwrp, bridge and neck are standard)

the middle pup is rwrp, reverse wound, reverse polarity meaning the copper wire is wound on the other way, and the magnet is backwards.
if you only had two pups, it would be advantageous to get one rwrp
keep in mind when the pups are in hum canceling they are wired in parallel instead of series, so they won't sound exactly like a standart humbucker, but it does a great job of canceling hum either way.

derpader, you asked about a tele.

yeah, in a humbucker one coil is standard, and the other is rwrp, and that's how it cancels noise. (don't ask me why, I'm dumb)
so its the same principle, only difference is they are space out, and wired in parallel with each other.
if you buy a 4 way switch you can wire it so one position is both pups in series, It'll sound more like a humbucker.

The sound/tone advantage is it will reduce noise when both pups are selected
