Fascinating instrument. Or Bizarre. Not sure which.

That was a really good video. Thanks for posting the link.

What an interesting instrument.

It really makes you realize some of the Rube Goldberg contraptions of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and even today.... are really nothing new. Synthaxe? Transtrem? Robotic tuners? Just stepping stones in the progression of clever tinkerers. (Not all are winners)

A fine sounding instrument. Reminds me of bagpipes a little with the drone notes.

Ritchie Blackmore plays them. Here is an example.

I vote for bizarre. Looks like an interesting wood project, though. I could see making one just for fun, and either giving it away or using it as a conversation piece.

I am getting a bit Rolly Polly these days.  :tard:

Of course, there was also that cover by these guys:

Look! I'm a surfer!

Which was a pretty straight cover, all things considered, unlike this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48EcwlgE_Qg which is my favourite cover version

Interesting version. For some reason it made me remember a version by Steve Hillage.

This one is from around 1977 apparently in Germany. But around the same time period, I saw Hillage performing at Newcastle University. I probably might not have remembered it unless for this thread just now.

Now does anyone remember Gong...

I never heard any other version of "Hurdy Gurdy Man" than the one Donovan did back 100 years ago, with enough tremolo on it that you had to remind yourself to breathe.

Brace yourself for the Tremolo turned up to 11 Butthole Surfers' version:
