Humbuckers with a Vintage Trem?

Hi All,

Think I might've made a little bit of a mistake when ordering parts for my new Warmoth build.

I've ordered (and received) a set of standard humbuckers to install. However my body has been routed for a Vintage 6-hole trem, and I'm using the Gold Gotoh one that Warmoth sell as standard. I've now learnt of 'Trembuckers' and why they are a thing.

Will I have a problem with the pole pieces not lining up with my standard humbuckers and a vintage 6-hole trem?

Thanks,

Rhys

The strings won't line up with the pole pieces perfectly, but they're only off a little bit and it has no effect on the sound. It's more of an aesthetic thing. The distance from the pole's top to the string is important and can change with fairly small adjustments, but from side to side it doesn't seem to matter much.

What I do is before I affix the pickguard which holds the humbuckers, I assemble the bridge, neck, tuners and line up the strings first.  Then I adjust the pickguard so the humbuckers line up under the strings.  Then affix the pickguard only after aligning the humbuckers in a pleasing way under the strings.  I always get it proportional, and satisfies my OCD.  Only after that do I do soldering.

Don't worry about it too much - it won't affect the sound.  There were loads of strats back in the 80's that were re-routed for humbuckers and they all had vintage trems.  Well, except those that were routed for a floyd...

Where did you buy the pickups, and how long ago?
Depending on that, I'd try to return the bridge pickup and get a Trembucker.

This right here. exchange 'em my dude! or sell them and buy what you need.

Depends how OCD you are. I have a regular spaced Duncan Screaming' Demon in a Charvel with a floyd. Pole pieces don't line up but I don't care, it sounds killer.

The O.P. is referring to "humbuckers" (plural). The Trembucker is only for the bridge position, the neck pickup would be the same regardles of bridge type. If he really wants the pole pieces to line up, he needs to change only one pickup.
