I'm installing the single coil pickups in my rear routed H S S Strat. I'm toying with the idea of installing the neck and middle pickups without the trim rings and mounting them directly to the wood. I've seen a few pictures here on the forum and I like the clean look. If I don't like them that way, I figure I can always come back and put the trim rings on later. Here's my question. How far can I drill the pilot hole in the pickup rout without coming through the backside?
