you might have a slight intonation problem (but obviously you'd be sorting that out anyway after assembly). i think it's impossible to go the other way with it (tele neck in a strat pocket) but tele body with a strat neck should be fine.
my squier '51 has a tele neck pocket and the previous owner swapped the neck out for a mighty mite strat neck. it seems to fit just fine. as long as the bolt holes match up i can't see it being a big problem (just to make sure it's not in the pocket sideways)
Strat® necks will fit into a Tele® pocket and intonate correctly. Gaps will however be apparent at the corners as shown in the photo below. If you have a 22 fret neck the fingerboard overhang will mask the gaps from the front.
If you will look to the top right hand side of your screen there is a Tele with a Strat neck on it. Intonates just fine, plays well, pretty lil' thing as well.

Patrick, did you cover the gaps by getting an extended fretboard? I'd do the count myself, but my tired peepers ain't up to counting the frets right now - didn't sleep so hot last night with the wind blowing through the avocado tree over my bedroom window. Sounded like armageddon outside my window.
