Kind of an interesting idea.  I don't know if I would actually use it, but I guess it could be cool in some situations.

You can rent all kinds of stuff for sessions and tours.  Not sure about the business model for only renting pedals.

For what they're charging, it's a pretty low-risk proposition for them since they'd amortize fast.

I just found out not too long ago that you can rent camera lenses. Really nice ones, very reasonably. Helluva lot more risk there, but they're making it work. Of course, I imagine camera buffs who know what to do with high-end lenses probably don't beat the snot out of them in normal use.

Ah, yes, i remember when i first heard about them earlier this year. It sounds like a good idea, but then again, I always wondered how someone would react once their rent-a-pedal went screwy. Would Tryapedal help? Or would they be stuck with it?

Aw, this is ridiculously brilliant. The percentage of pedals that will convert to "rent-to-own" has got to be sky-high, because how many people stand in front of their amp with a new pedal saying "Whoo ! Yeah! That's bitchin!" etc. These people are as evil and snakey as the damn casino owners. I wish I'd though of it.... :laughing7:

Good point. Look how many people with credit ratings to the right of the decimal point or lower go to "rent-to-own" joints for furniture and consumer electronics to get $300 couches they eventually pay $1,200 for and $600 TVs for $2,400.
