Highlighting lace wood

I will be finishing a lacewood mooncaster soon.  I ordered some lacewood blanks to practice finishing on.  Beyond just adding clear, anyone have experience on what to use to highlight the grain??    I don’t want to add color, just deepen.  I have heard of people adding oils before clearing.

Any tips would be great.  This is a 1st for me with lacewood.
