beautiful!!

I have heard warmouth get some crap, kit guitars, over priced, overrated, etc.

The facts are, that Ken and his people do really nice stuff!

For years I had bought from Ken and was never disappointed.

Do a good job assembling it and you will have an instrument you can be proud of !!

He's looking at hannaugh's LP so he's seeing one of the absolute best.  I think you're in the upper echelons of guitar builders on that one.

Tryed to register on LP forum once, but my email was blocked... go figure  :dontknow:

Nice some known guys saying good things  :icon_biggrin:

If you read the comments subsequent to his, there is really nothing but good things said all around about W products.

This is true, but to a lot of people Warmoth is just a parts manufacturer.  A Warmoth guitar to them is just some run-of-the-mill "kit guitar".  It's too bad, they don't know what they're missing.

Hannaugh's LP is a gleaming example of exactly how far off they are from reality.

I know that when I brought my VIP to Guitar Center to fit to a case, the guys there were drooling over it.  Heck if I ever buy a name brand guitar, new off the shelf, ever again. W is the only way to go.

Man, when I started on this whole Warmoth journey, I had no idea how much attention this guitar was going to get.  I knew it would turn out nice, but I had no idea it would turn out this awesome.  When I show my LP to people, they audibly gasp when I open the lid of my case.

Again I wanna thank you guys for all your comments, and again I give some major props to Warmoth for building such a gorgeous piece for me.  I couldn't have asked for more.

Oh and by the way, it is getting closer and closer to completion.  I didn't really work on it for like 2 weeks because I had the flu, but I'm back on it now and it's coming along slowly but surely.  I can't wait till it's done and I take it over to Guitar Center to test out amps.  Those guys' eyeballs are going to roll out of their heads!

The comments all up and sown were positive.  The only even remotely negative comment was, "...I wouldn't mind it was a bolt-on."  BTW Hannaugh, was there ever any mention or inquiry by anyone about the 25.5 scale?

This comment cracked me up, the guy made is sound like Gibson uses the most expensive parts in the world..

"$1400...is that for the body alone or body and neck? If that's body and neck then you would spend another $900 for top of the line pickups and hardware and electronics if you assemble it yourself. So, $2300 for a piece of art and a rockin' machine like that....sweet."

I didn't spend $900 on my spalted tele, and I got top notch harware, pups and electronics..

Yeah, I thought that his estimate was a little steep.  I don't need gold plated titanium hardware.

You have to remember, the guitar collectorish folks over there put ours to shame.  Some of them talk about spending $15k on a special issue like they're debating going out to dinner.  There's several with pictures of their guitars that completely cover their couches, floors, and walls.  It really makes you jealous as hell.

I don't neccessarily wish I had a million collector guitars, but if I had that kind of cash I would defnitely have a ton of Warmoths, a fantastic amplifier collection (including several horn amps built by Specimen Products... actually, I'd probably have a bunch of other stuff built by them as well), and one of those electric 6 string fretted violins that cost an arm and a leg.

Yeah I wasn't sure what he was driving at there - too expensive or great deal? I know a friend of mine recently bought a Les Paul pretty run of the mill as far as I'm concerned chrome hardware, black/silver burst and it was around $4000. If you get the most expensive option "W" has to offer it can add up quick and it is still not even close to some of these boutique guitars floating around. I played a PRS at the Hollywood Guitar Center whose top wasn't half as nice Hannaugh's and it was $18,000 :o. To me for what you get "W" is the best thing going and I will never buy an off the rack guitar again - and may sell the last couple name brand guitars I have to purchase more "W" parts.

It really doesn't make sense to me when people who collect factory built guitars look down their noses at "kit" guitars... I want to say:

"Hey man, this was built specifically for me, and I'm putting it together with tender love and care because it will be mine.  No factory guitar tech is ever going to care as much about MY instrument than I will, so I'm obviously going to be more careful and I know I will do a good job on what I can.  And anything I can't do will go to my professional luthier friend... somehow I think we're going to do a better job at this than a bunch of guys in a factory owned by a company that cares more about the bottom line than it does about musicians."

...but perhaps that is a little harsh.

not harsh - I think people are just ignorant - they hear "kit" guitar and think of something very different than what "w" is selling. I have two very close friends when I turned them onto "W" one was immediately very turned on by the wood options and beautiful finishes and he is normally playing custom made Conklins. The other is completely not interested and he normally plays $600-700 dollar off the rack guitars - but he is so convinced that a neck thru does something for him that he will not look at  anything without a neck thru body.

I personally feel ok if people are not interested in "W" then it remains this very cool prvt club of all of us that know how very cool their products are.

Most of the guys on the Other Les Pauls board over there don't have that kind of attitude and if they do it is directed towards Gibson Les Pauls oddly enough.  Those are the ones that swear by Tokai, Aria, Greco, etc.

Not so much anymore in the "new economy". Lots f those guys are haveing to sell their guitars now( or TRY to) , cause they are off the tit just like many, if not most of us.
