Did I say I was Christian? Nope. My fiance is, and he actually lives up to it.
I on the other hand, have a couple of things that are major dealbreakers for me liking someone. 1: Being argumentative as recreation. I don't mind an honest debate, but going out of your way to be inflamatory is the most unattractive quality I can think of in a human being besides the obvious big ones like being a rapist/murderer. 2: Personally attacking others because they are different from you. It's called being a bully. I didn't like it in elementary school, I don't like it now. It doesn't matter if you think they are being too sensitive or stupid, intentionally hurting people is morally wrong (unless it's in self defense), and if you do it, you should have the balls to apologize to the person, especially if you claim to be a Christian! 3: Being totally closed off to trying anything new. I can't imagine being that boring, and I wouldn't want to ever hang out with someone that boring.
Anyways, I said I would lock this thread if the gay conversation continued. Since you had to be a big man and have the last word because you just can't let anything go, here's the lock.
The next time I see a troll thread, I'm reporting it to the moderator, and I urge everyone else to as well. I don't care if there are a couple of people on the board who are constantly jonesing for "more stimulating talk radio", they can find it somewhere else. Up until this point I have gotten along well with almost everyone here. Even people (GoDrex) I don't agree with on politics or religion have been super cool about the guitar conversations, and that's great. He in particular helped me out a lot with my Jimmy Page wiring question. But I draw the line when people start up the hate speech about guitars they don't like or lifestyles they don't like, especially when other members that I was previously okay with start joining in with the jerk who started it.
I think it's obvious that the thread in question was started for the sole purpose of making people angry. He could have just said "I don't like the look of Teles" if it came up in conversation in another thread. But instead he made it a whole topic and he gave a disgusting graphic description of it that was directed at everyone on this board who has a Tele and has put their heart and soul into building their guitar. Then the guy personally attacked everyone who was rightfully mad at him.I spent 3 years of my life saving for my LP, and I love it. I would be offended if someone went out of their way to attack what I spent so long working for. It's all fine and dandy to say "I wouldn't care if someone said that to me," but other people are not the same as you. You can't expect everyone to be just like you.
This type of crap is what other forums are for, but this forum is different.
If you can't keep it positive, don't start a thread about it. If you see someone starting a thread just to piss people off, report it.
That's all I have to say.
