Hey everybody....a major announcement from Warmoth:

Yeah, 10-4 on the custom order. I'm thinking a Schaller 475 this time around. Just being a cheap bastard, I was hoping to pocket that 20% discount!

I'm seeing quite a variety in your-choice-trem. Even goin' with the six-screw vintage would be better than that disgusting pivoting TOM-wanna-be bridge/crummy, boingy tail-piece. -Can block a Strat bridge easily enough and don't even have to un-string it if you wish to reverse the hard-tailing process. -That would be my vote with the prices the way they are right now.  :icon_thumright:

Well, you could snatch up a Showcase body with the traditional route and have a cover plate made for it to hide the unnecessary route. Drill the body yourself (or have it drilled) for a bridge that actually works and call it a love story. I know Doug would be happy to cut you a piece of brass or something attractive and engrave it with your choice of artwork. I could see that looking real nice and not costing your first-born.

No! The Jazz/Jag hunka crap. I had one for a few seconds 'cuz I thought they looked cool. Then I tried to actually use it. Ended up tightening everything up so it wouldn't move (as KG suggested), set it up for slide and gave it to a friend. Yikes! -What a pricey lesson on the fact that things aren't always what they appear to be. (-Like "cool")

Gotcha. I thought maybe you had some bad experiences with the 475.

No, it never crossed my mind to use the standard JM set up. About as stable as quick sand. Want a hard tail this time around. If not the Schaller, maybe a Hipshot hard tail. Always have good luck with their stuff.

I'd like to save a few duckets, but if that means an extra, gaping hole in the back, I'm just gonna have to go full boat. Such is life.

In the end, I't best to get whatcha really want. I joke about buyer's remorse for recent orders in light of this sale, but all in all, I'm glad I got what I did when I did. -As Cagey says: "compromise is consternation", -best not to settle!  :icon_thumright:

Yeah. In the grand scheme of things, 20 points on the body is only gonna be maybe 5-7 points on the whole build, cost-wise. Better buy what you want, lest you resent the thing for no good reason. No matter how good you make them, with few exceptions parts guitars have a notoriously low resale value, so you better love what you build.

I love these words....

Showcase Items not getting paint Ships in approx 5-6 business days (M-F)

:icon_biggrin:

They're usually pretty good about that. Problem is, they use UPS' lowest grade shipping option, which I think might be "crippled mule train". Guys in Australia and the Netherlands can get stuff faster than I can here in Michigan, and I'm not in some snow-blown tundra. This is a major metropolitan area.

But, the stuff does get here unscathed, so there's that. I just get anxious, that's all  :)
