Hello and Which Pickups?

Hi All,

New here and I'm waiting for my first Warmoth body to be delivered on Thurs 11/12 and just ordered the neck last Friday.

L5s - Semi hollow Maple with Flame Maple top, single F-hole, routed HH, drilled for 4 pots
Neck - Bubinga w/Goncalo board, gold frets, drilled for Planet Waves tuners
Bridge - Tone Pros TOM
Tuners and bridge are gold.

Here is where I'd like a few opinions. I play most types of music. Everything from the Animals to Johnny Cash to Al Green. I was thinking about using Vintage Vibe Charlie Christian pickups, but now am having second thoughts, as always. I'm looking for a bluesy/jazzy tone.

Any other suggestions?

BTW, I already have:
Fender Clapton Strat
Fender Jaguar HH
Schecter C1+
Custom Tele w/ Pearly Gates bridge and Hot Rails neck.

A neck Charlie Christian and a bridge Tele pup should give you a lot of usable sounds.

Man, I am not going to get into this argument.
All that I can say is the TV Jones & Lollar P-90's are both smokin' pickups.  :headbang1:
However, if you have the body already ordered, the P-90's will not fit...

I am actually using the Lollar P-90's on my current build and was planning on the TV Jones for my next build.
Get online and listen to some sound clips.  Both of the manufactures websites have clips posted.

Sounds like you just need some good old PAF types, and not something super fancy. Lots of choices.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll take a closer look at the TV Jones stuff. BTW, does anyone have any experience with the Duncan P-Rails. They look like they could be pretty versatile.

I looked at the TV Jones pickups but decided that is not the tone I am after. I also listened to a lot of P-Rails sound bites on youtube and although I like the concept felt that the rails mode was just too weak. So, I talked to Pete at Vintage Vibe and he is building me a set of pickups based on the P-Rails design but with a slightly toned down P90 coil and a beefier rails coil. He is going to put it in his Vibetron package with a gold frame and pearloid cover. All for less than a set of TV Jones Classics.

They will be wired up with two push-pulls to get all three modes. I can't wait to hear these as I know Pete will do a great job on them.
