For me, without question, the Gibson headstock looks best. I'm not a fan of the Warmoth headstock, or for that matter, any funky looking headstock. I like the Gibson open book, and the standard Tele and Strat headstock.
Bill in SC

I like the look of the Warmoth headstock, as well as the straight string pull. It's nice to advertise that you've got something different.

Gibson for that one definitely, good luck getting those birds on there! :icon_jokercolor:

I've made it before and I'll do it again! I hope God bless me again, as he did on the first... Sometimes wasn't my hands working
This time I could found some nice pics of the birds, will be easier!

Don't know why, but I think that PRS headstock looked cool with that... The Warmoth headstock is nice, but I hate the tuners holes in it...
For make things clear: I'll build the neck (with some modifications that you'll know when it's done), so legal problems about the birds and prs headstock or anyother: I believe the legal problems is when you sell things looking equal, if you build to you it's ok....

And the neck woods? (Body: Black Korina + Maple)

I can't decide between Rosewood + Rosewood, Rosewood + Ebony or Purpleheart + Ebony  :sad1:

The Variax is very similar to the Warmoth headstock only the holes are more even looking. For the neck? Think bright. Hollow korina is gonna be warm :icon_thumright:

Yes, this is my fear! Get a muddy tone  :sad1:
The guitar will have P90 in humbucker spacing, so I think the single-coil will help about the warmfull... Perhaps 3 pieces Rosewood + 2 pieces Pauferro or Ebony  :icon_scratch:

The Gibson headstock with a birdseye peghead. It would look cool with an Rosewood fretboard and trapeze inlays. It's a Mahogany body, so why not go for a Mahogany neck?

Hey Nonsense, If you don't mind the bright colored neck on this project, I would like to suggest bloodwood! The tone and sustain on my Korina/Bloodwood Strat was sooo amazing, I still regret selling it every day  :sad1:  :-\ Very Balanced tone in combination with Korina, and it feels so smooth and fast :) It's just not so traditional looking.
here's some porn:

But it wound't sound too brighty??? Warmoth says that Bloodwood sounds like Ebony...  ???
I'm in doubt... I want a guitar with a nice bass punch but not muddy... God... My brain will boil...

I'm doing an L5S and was ambivalent about headstock; wound up going with a Gibson as there was one on the Showcase that looked better than the Warmoth choices. If you're custom ordering, I'd probably go Gibson headstock, from Showcase, whichever neck has the woods/look you want

The neck I'll build by my own hands  :icon_biggrin:
You know, I missing smell the wood's dust hehehe
