Well, I meant my old purple flamed maple Tele, Ms. Nesbit. A wild hair sent me spinning sideways and I ended up parting out an amazing Warnoth Tele that I loved. I cut 15+ tracks with her, but things had gotten stale and I forced myself into a different direction for inspiration. And hell, there’s nothing like an excuse to start a new build.

Anyway,  I found an old pic of Ms Nesbit and found the dude who won the eBay auction 3 years ago. He still has it, but oh boy, he knew I was coming back one day.  He will sell it back to me for what he bought it for.  I just can’t imagine kicking one of the three off the stand for her. Maybe she’ll always be the one that got away.

I feel your paint.. I've many times hovered of that "contact Ebay member" button, with the thought of trying to buy back my flame maple superstrat I built.  I may still do it one day, but I don't even want to reach out to see if he still has until I'm ready to actually commit.. and at least find out if he'd actually sell it.

You could just build a replacement(s). With luck, you'd hit the mark in the first three tries.  :icon_biggrin:

And imagine what he’s done to it. She probably has gas station stickers and gouge marks all over. The horror!

I went back into the email archives and looked at what I spent on that one.  Yowza.

Now that’s meaner than a junk yard dog, man. I swear it took 3 attempts to get the neck on her right!  I can do the responsible thing and retire the Sci-Fi Strat with a master tone and blender setup, so I can get the juicy Tele middle tones.  :turtle:

Yeah, but you could justify 3 more builds. :icon_thumright:

Believe me, that thought had crossed my mind.  Not so much the gas station stickers, but it would break my heart to see it all scuffed and dinged.  On the other hand though, I don't have anything against a well loved guitar.  In my mind, if a guitar is pristine.. that tells me that nobody wanted to play it.  So, it's kind of a double edged sword of sorts. lol

That’s true enough. I decided after I put that one together that it would be my last “furniture” guitar. I do like a guitar that has legit wear and tear in it.

Dude, stands are cheap, love is priceless. I say, if you really want Ms. Nesbit back, get her, and a new stand!

I swear, my wife can’t tell if I have a new guitar or not because the three guitar stand is always full. I could change one out and it might fly under the radar, but getting wife auth for a new build is gonna take some time haha. I like your logic, however.  :laughing7:

Do you think she would have you back?

I mean you did sell her to a stranger on ebay.

Back in 1991, for my 16th birthday my parents decided (since I was showing progress), to get me a nice guitar.  I picked out a made in USA midnight blue telecaster ( which looked purple in certain light).  I loved that guitar but ended up selling it in 1996 for reasons I can't, and don't want to, remember.
Anyway, I found out that this local musician/ producer had bought it, and still has it to this day.  I almost contacted him to buy it back but then I found out he took out the pickups and put in EMGs.  Arrgghh!!
Don't get me wrong, I love EMGs.  However, the guitar just wouldn't be the same.  Now I'm kicking myself for selling it, but I'm excited to start on a replica build later this year.  I'll probably use a Warmoth neck, but I'll have to look elsewhere for the body unless Warmoth starts offering a midnight blue finish.
