The main concern is making sure the bridge radius matches the neck radius. I don't think you will find a 7 1/4 radius Tune-O-Matic bridge. You will need a fixed bridge that has individual saddles that allow for individual string height adjustments.

by the way 7 1/2 inch radius is a straight radius. you can order a 10 inch radius neck, which will fit a tune o matic. If you don't like straight radiuses though, the warmoth compound radius will fit a tune o matic if you sand the bridge saddles to match. There are other threads here on how to do that.

TOM bridges are usually a 12 inch radius.

by straight I'm thinking he means flat.

For the record, I am using a 7.25" radius neck with an unmodified tunomatic, and I have no problems.

And how high are the "outter" strings off the fret board as compared to the strings in the middle of the fret board?

I'm using a standard 12" radius TOM with both of my 10-16" compound radius necks.  I have no complaints and the action is lower than my other guitars.

Hails Guys
Well... what kind of problem would that vintage radius X Bridge bring to me?!?!?
To higher string action?!?!

When i say i dont like straight/flatter fretboards, i mean those ibanez
i had a S1220 WNF, and two rgs 570. and i hated that kind of net, although the Nut width is amazing. Q:p
i have large hands.
JP
THANKS for the input guys.

oh i see... I think what you mean is that you don't like a flat or thin back contour, like the ibanez wizard necks. If you have large hands you might like the '59 roundback contour, though there is a slight upcharge.

I can't stand Ibanez necks either... too skinny.  Like Lindsay Lohan.

I do like the standard thin contour, though!  Do you like the necks on American standard Fenders?  That's like a standard thin.  Except it's a narrow nut... I like 1 11/16.  Definitely measure the nut width on a neck you like!  Get that right because you'll feel it every time you play if you get too narrow a neck.

I haven't measured it, but I feel no difference, nor have I noticed one while playing. But then again, 97% of what I play is rhythm work, so maybe that makes a difference?

fudging Hails Man. those ibanez are as flat and thin as a piece of fuckingn PAPER. ahahah i hate them. but the new ones are still slightly flat on the back contour, but they are rounder than the other ones.

What i want is a 43 or more nut width. im confortable with it.
i didnt like that flat radius on the ibanez. i preffer the rounder ones of the strats. And i played a peavey wolfgang special in sunburst colour. i loved the back contour. the nut isnt wider and the radius was as straight/flat as a porn actors COCK.
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhahahah

Charvel is a Fusion Deluxe. Japanese model.  from 1990 or so. maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and im in doubt if its basswood, or poplar on the body.
its loaded with a Bare Knuckle Nailbomb Bridge.
The Fender is An American standard. comemorative edition. 40th years of the stratocaster. USA.
Loaded with a Bare Knuckle Warpig in the Bridge.
Its maple neck/fretboard. one piece.
and, i dont know which wood is in the body. if its alder, basswood, ash?
its kinda weird that the wood in the body is various pieces, more than 6 . i guess 6. i thought they just use it in cheaper guitars like their chinese, korean models.
i had a japanese strat, 50 reissue that it was a 2 piece basswood body.

Yeah man. i dont like flat or thin back contour NOR Radius.
i have Large Hands for sure. im used to play GUITAR in a acoustic guitar. that was my first instrument. i started playign nirvana, then slayer, black sabbath, metallica all on the acoustic.
with pick. for sure.
i never played that 59 roundback . which guitars do use that back contour measurements? can you give me some examples? i can try to find someone or a shop here that carries it.

Thanks
JP

I still have my first instrument. my Acoustic
it has a nut width of ...47 MM and i feel 1005 confortable with it. ahahahahaha

my fender is 43 mm

my charvel is 43 mm

Just one problem... the really round radiuses like on the vintage fenders are not that great for leads and string bending that are required for metallica, black sabbath, etc, though the 7 1/2 inch radius is the most comfortable thing as I'll get out for chords and rhythm guitar. For your situation I would highly recommend the compound radius because you get the very comfortable 10 inch radius on the low frets for chording (which is nothing to scoff at), but you can still bend effortlessly on the higher frets because it gradually flattens out. It's a good compromise.

If you like that acoustics feel, you can get a 1 3/4 inch nut at no additional cost. It's about 44.5 mm.

'59 rounback contours are what you find on alot of gibsons and epiphones. Go to ur local mom and pop music store and ask if they have some with that contour. It's not huge but it feels nice and big because it's round. Great for chords especially when combined with a 12inch or less radius on the low frets. It's good if you want a nice big feel but your worried about going too big with the back contour. If you think it can still have more there is the fatback for you to try, which is exactly what it sound like.
