Guitar Carnage...

No.. NO!.. Please... Make it stop!!  :sad1:  :help:
Although that first jazzmaster is kinda interesting.

Must be some awfully powerful drugs circulating around out there. Still...

Just say no!

When i saw that squared-off strat, a tear slowly rolled down my cheek, and I closed my laptop for a few minutes to gather my emotions...

On the plus side, and not to defend such carnage, but if it made the player happier who are we to judge? We all know what a joy it is to play something we really like, and how something less than perfect in our sight just won't get played much, if at all. Lord knows I did some cruel things to guitars back when I was a puppy. But, they made me happier with the instrument at the time so I played more, which made me happier overall.

The first time I routed a pickup cavity, the template shifted ever so slightly, just enough that if you looked right you could see the cavity peeking out from under the pickup ring. I felt like I had absolutely wrecked the guitar. Those pics have made me feel a little better about that.

Oh well, at least it shows you that, eh... creativity and inventivity allow people to... eh.... nevermind....

I can clearly see your point and I agree, but the fellow that wrecked the '59 LP has to be top of the list on the moron page....

Happy at the moment doesn't mean happiness 50 years later. This is true for all of life.

Hehe! Yeah.

I remember about 100 years ago, one of the neighborhood kids made a mess out of an old Les Paul. This was back when they were just "used" guitars instead of "vintage" sucker bait, but even then it was bizarre. He glued a pair of kite sticks to either side of the neck to make it wider, then took a bastard file after the fingerboard to scallop it. What a mess! But, it still sounded good and he played it all the time.

Well, quite, geetars are mass produced tools to be used, and modified for better use. Not valuable art artefacts to be handed down through the generations.

Well, yeah, some are, but we only think that after they're old and haven't been butchered by the previous d*ckhead owner.

It's funny how so many are into the "relic" craze, while I get anxiety if there's even the slightest flaw on my guitars.

The relic thing baffles me as well. To each their own and all, not my place to judge, I just don't understand it. I have dings and scratches that I've earned over the years, but I strive to take good care of my guitars and the notion of intentionally damaging them is, well, perplexing.  :dontknow:
