Will a Gotoh GE-1996 fit in a Recessed Floyd Original Route?

Yes.
The studs are slightly different but it will work on the Floyd studs also.

Thank you very much!  I have read several reviews from folks that prefer the Gotoh to the Floyd original for various reasons and I am seriously considering trying one out for my next build.

Do you know if Floyd upgrade blocks will fit the Gotoh?

I would be careful about trying to retrofit an upgrade block made for one device versus another.

It is possible to get upgrade blocks for the Gotoh. Perhaps check out FU-Tone as one example.

No, Ibanez usually have an Ibanez Lo Pro Edge of some type.

Gotoh GE-1996 are used by Suhr, and I think also Musicman use a Musicman branded version.
