Google+

I am because someone invited me. I've used gmail for years, but I haven't figured out what google+ is good for yet.

not yet. its still in beta, right? (I did apply, but I'm on some sort of waiting list.) anything to get off of facebook. Zuckerberg is a huge d-bag. I have a list as long as my arm of ways facebook could be simply and easily improved, yet every time facebook is "updated", they just move all the tabs around and restyle it, making the new layout confusing for the next two weeks. Where's group chat? Video chat? and why does it integrate with games?! I don't give a crap what my aunt scored in farmfrontierpokermafiaville. I want a powerful, flexible, multifaceted networking and communication tool. facebook isn't it. I have moderate hopes that Google will build up something better.

That's not really selling it  :laughing7:

I'm not on FB and what I seen on G+ is a boring attempt to wake Buzz from the grave.

I'm on FB and so are most of my friends. Most of the people I know don't use Gmail: thus, to use Google+ or not is a no-brainer for me. It's also a really stupid name.

You guys already forced me into FaceBook, but I swore I would never get into Twitter and Myspace and all that crap, so I'm not sure what to make of Google+.
FaceBook is evil, but in ways, it is a necessary evil. It's the only way to IM chat with a number of people, and follow certain musicians' newsfeeds.

Can anyone explain how Google+ differs from FaceBook?

Just  wait till they come out with Google x, (Google times) the online paper...

It better be nothing like Final Cut X. Thanks for reminding me of Apple's latest douchebaggery.

The biggest difference at the moment are security features. Google+ allows you to group your friends into "circles" when you send a message it can be limited so only circles you allow to see the post can read it. I'm finding this feature very useful as I can now be friends with co-workers, which I wouldn't allow on facebook because they would be able to read everything.

Other interesting features are chat rooms, video chat rooms and integration with all the other Google apps (if you use them).

You do not have to have a gmail account to use Google+

Yep, I bit.  Personally, I think it's more difficult to post because it takes more clicks to do it.

I haven't really rummaged around on that site yet, but if I get bored, I will.  It just seems like almost a carbon copy of FB.  It's clear FB was the template for it.

as an early adopter on myspace & facebook, google+ feels just like the other two when they were new.
hardly anyone was on them, there wasn't much to do.  give it time.

No empire lasts forever.  It happened with the Romans, it happened with MySpace, and eventually, it's going to happen with Facebook.

It's happened before, it will... happen again. Its just a question of when.

I probably won't join any time soon. I was off facebook for a year and i only use it lightly now. But I would be wary - I read some pretty hairy stuff about the user agreement. They own pretty much anything you post. So if you throw a photo on there and they like it, they can use it in their next ad campaign, make millions of dollars, and you're f***ed because you agreed to it.

FB needs to be taken down. They're slacking off, not providing new features. And they can't say they have no funding for new features because half of facebook is Ad banner space. Google+ seems to me to be Facebook minus all the crap (stupid games, stupid quizzes, my aunt getting spammed and posting "OMG! Justin Bieber Blablabla . . ."). I've been waiting for a long time for someone to make a networking and communication site that was just bare bones without all the useless crap. Google+ is looking good so far. Video chatroom, text chatroom, "circle" organization, FREE! . . . and no ads that I've seen yet, or games.
