Goofy wiring?

I have noticed since wiring up my new Goncalo Strat that there is no sound difference between the 2 position (1 down from neck) and the middle position.  These pups and components came out of a strat that was already wired up and working, except in that one it was wired for the knobs to be vol-vol-vol, ...no tone control.  I rewired it per Dimarzio's Virtual Strat wiring, and went back and rewired the wires from the front and middle pups but there is just no switching going on between those two positions.  Is it possible that the 5-way switch is bad or could a bad pot cause this?  :icon_scratch:

This isn't the first guitar I've wired up so it's got me a little stumped.  Anyone run into this before?  It seems that the obvious answer would be "something's wrong with your wiring", but I have checked and rechecked and my wiring is spot on with the diagram from Dimarzio.

Grab a meter and check for continuity (zero Ohms) across the switch lugs with the lever in the two positions.

What about the neck/middle combination ?  You getting that husky "out-of-phase" tone ?

Hey guys, thanks for the great replies.  I bought a new switch and put it in, but the problem didn't get any better.  I was just about to loose my mind when I got the idea that perhaps the wiring diagram was wrong.  Turns out the way the diagram is drawn, it looks like a pickup wire was broken by a capacitor in the bleed circuit.  That wire was supposed to go to the switch unbroken.  Makes sense after I thought about it and realized what was going on.  Dimarzio needs to clarify that circuit drawing!  I bet others have done the same thing.

She sounds super sweet now!
