Good Weight for a P or J bass body (rule of thumb)?

After building a number of Warmoth guitars through the years, and thanks to learning from many other builders on forums, I have landed on a preferred weight for a strat or tele body to be around 4 lbs +/- a few ounces. Does anyone have a preferred weight that they like to see a Jazz or Precision bass body for good balance and resonance?
Thanks!

I found balance to be more correlated to shape and what’s on the head stock.  As to resonance and weight not so much.

My P-bass weighs about 9 ~ 9.5 lbs.
Heavy is good for a P-Bass if you want a good deep sound.
At least, it seems to have worked that way for me. I don't recall off hand what the body weighed, I'd have to look around, but I think it was seven pounds, plus a little bit.

I’m building 2 short scale basses, a P and a J, the J body will be 3 lb 4 oz, arriving tomorrow, still awaiting the P body which should be about the same.
I’m not in the camp that a bass need be a boat anchor to sound good. Most of the tune comes from the pick ups and amp IMO.
