I just placed the order for my very first full build this afternoon. I had to check over the specs at least four times, I can't even remember, to make sure I got it right. How nerve-racking that was! As soon as I received that confirmation email the thought occurred to me, "Is this what I really want? Oh well, screw it, it's too late now!"  :toothy12:

There is a small bit or remorse (don't know why) now that I've finally pulled the trigger, but I think I did alright:

Body: Solid VIP

- all mahogany
- routed for two p90s
- gotoh 510 bridge
- tobacco burst front
- trans brown back

Neck: Pro contruction Warmoth

- Kingwood on Maple
- SS frets
- 1 3/4" nut width
- fatback
- MOP dot inlays
- Vintage tint gloss

Here are some semi-mockups and photos I accumulated before confirming the finishing choices:

You're gonna love that fatback with that huge nut. I know I do! What P90s are you using?

EDIT: I completely agree with Autobat. That's gonna be a damn fine instrument.

What's the "remorse" about?? I was excited when I placed my first order.

I hope you have big hands for a fat-back and 1-3/4" nut.

Is it gonna have a pickguard? If not, the .720 mod would have been a good choice.

and now heres the pisser, you forgot some 2 dollar item, and warmoth has stupid minimum order deal

I dont quite understand it, if they have so many orders that are so small as to be a pain in the ass. Then thats a good thing. If there aren't so many small orders, then whats the big deal?

It could be a credit card thing as well.  Most companies have a $0.50 or so per transaction fee.  If you buy something that is $2.00 they lose money and then have to pay an employee to package it and ship it out.

I'm going to be using Lollar's standard P-90's. I'm actually copying the wood combo and pickups of an existing guitar, Chad Urmston's custom Jazzmaster by Creston, because I like the sound:

Well, VIP's won't accept pickguards... I'm assuming you got mixed up because of the Tele body photos (I stole them from Updown's recent posts) I used in my mockup. I just did those to be able to visualize the neck and body finishes together.

By the way, for a while I was SO close to going through with a finish that you would have loved. I was thinking mahogany body and neck w/ flame maple laminate top and peghead veneer. Then (get ready for it!) green burst on the pegface and body front, trans green on body and neck backs. Warmoth has been churning out some gorgeous green bursts lately too, but I eventually decided against that idea once I wanted a maple neck. If I was gonna go green, I would want the WHOLE thing green. I still love that idea and I want to keep in mind for the future, but man that would have been cool!

Why ?  was the wife looking over your shoulder as you hit the pay now button  :toothy12:
:icon_scratch: Never had any remorse here, you'll learn.

Sounds like it'll be a nice looking guitar  :icon_thumright:
Thought I recognised those pic's from somewhere  :icon_biggrin:

Yep that's more than likely the reason as to the up-charge when you forget the smallest thing like ....
 1 Capacitor

Hah - tell me about it. I screwed up my Ghost ribbon cable trying to shorten it - had to order a 2x8 ribbon connector from Digikey. $1 part, $5 shipping. Hard to get rich doing that - but it's easy to get poor trying to make up the rest of a $25 minimum order - ( I did a bunch of that in college - still have some of my electronics parts stockpiles from that)
