Looking for suggestions to repair (glue?) an ash bass body that has a chunk broken off near the input jack, about 1.5" x 4"

Thanks.

Ouch.

I've had this recommended to me by many luthiers: Titebond Orginal Wood Glue with the red label.

HTH,

OK.  Thanks.  If a few pieces are missing what would be a good filler?  Something that won't shrink or crack in case I want to paint it.

It's an old Peavey T-40 and I have another one just like it, so I'm not too concerned about preserving it's holy tonal integrity, etc.  It still plays fine - just the input jack is AFU.  It's a natural finish ash body so if I get it back together It may paint it.

images?

T40's were Northern Ash IIRC, so fitting a patch should be as simple as matching the grain

and agreement on the Titebond Original. you'll also want to firmly clamp the filler piece in place 9until the glue squeezes out) to minimize any glue lines

all the best,

R
