Gibson Feels Threatened by Paper Guitars

Because they can't succeed on their own merits, so they try to extort money from those who can. A lot of companies and organizations on the skids do that when they're in that situation. In fact, there are companies that form specifically to do just that. They're referred to as "patent trolls". They buy up intellectual property such as patents, copyrights, and trademarks and go in search of "infringers" to sue them into insolvency. The RIAA and MPAA have been in that mode for years now. Their business model is failing fast and they're unwilling or unable to adjust, so they just sue the snot out of anyone and everyone in a futile effort to maintain the status quo. It hasn't and won't work, but they don't seem to realize that, either.

Gibsons are the FUGLYest guitars in the world. The only thing I hate more than any Les Paul is a tele. I hate them. I hate them so much.
The only Gibson I didn't immediately want to turn into firewood are SG's.

I know there are a bunch of you that love them (and *spit* telecasters) but I can't help it if ya'll have zero taste.

Anyways, even RIAA's "sue everybody" policy is an Epic Fail. I just read something not to long ago that their legal campaign
is costing them tens of millions as it all goes to lawyers to research, write up, account, report and file one of their 'John Doe'
defendents only to have judge's with a clue dismiss the case. Over and over and over.

I think I speak for everyone who likes diplomacy when I say the following.

fudge YOUR SHIT

Seriously, if you don't like a guitar, I can respect that. But to attack someone because of what they like (within reason), that's just stupid. I don't like Gibson either, but you don't need to be a jackass about it.

Man, that was waaaaay to easy!   :evil4:

P.S. Diplomacy is for losers and liberals.

Level 2 - escalated...

I don't think I'd ever pay money for a Strat, maybe one day my tastes will change. but they look and feel bad to me.

Tele's all the way.

I hear you. I prefer the sound of teles, but unplugged, I love strats. I don't know what it is about them, but I will play one unplugged any day.

For me, besides the looks of the strat.... I just cant get comfy with them.

I can jive Explorers, Icemans and Tele's. I love how those sit.

but for some insane reason. Strats never got comfy for me!

I mean they're strats, arent they supposed to be like... the guitar for everyone?

forget buying Paper Jamz as collector's items... it's starting to look more and more like we should all buy Gibsons to keep as collector's items.

I will say Teles were an acquired taste for me, but I've always loved a nice Les Paul.

me too. i've owned both a tele and a les paul, sold them both. the tele fit me much better than the LP so now it's time to get my warmoth version together! but i used to love the look of les pauls and hate the look of telecasters. now my feelings have kind of reversed. i love the look of a nice tele, and les pauls are a dime a dozen. even the ones that look like a million bucks are still only the greatest LP you've ever seen until the next NGD thread. they're everywhere.

I can say I loved my Les Paul, mainly cause it was my first solid body guitar. And I like my Explorer, but I have guitars that blow them away, playability wise and tonally... Plus I only gave $125 for the LP back in '83, and I'd spend my money on building a custom any day now over buying anything from Gibson...

Les Pauls and ES-335s are beautiful guitars. The SG is the ugly one.

With that said, I ain't bashing anyone's guitar, but Gibson's business practices suck.

(By the way, I'm glad you're not a Liberal)
