It seems to me that there are some oldsters here who know about joking with each other and a comment directed between us may inadvertently hit another target? It has nothing to do with "seniority ranks higher", simply that I know who some of these people are and we've been at it for a while... I missed whatever the big blowup was, and I probably would've ignored it, but I think it's likely that if a poster with 1000+ entries says something nasty, it's aimed at another poster with 1000+ entries, because we have hides as thick as hippopotamuses (who are not fat, merely amply-provisioned). Except for Max, because he had like 5,000 posts before he owned more than a couple knobs and a used straplock.

Oh darling, I would never.... well, I might.

well, I still got some purchase headroom to catch up to Max's count, then. I just officially spent my first bit of my own money a guitar . . . string set. (d'adario 11's flatwound, and they're killer on my extended-borrow V00 serial number strat.) I'll try to get my post count up higher before splurging on anything as drastic as a strap  :icon_thumright:

If there needs to be more moderation on the forum, or the staff here is feeling overwhelmed, my suggestion is to seek out some of the more positive members here and offer opportunities to be moderators.

+1  :icon_thumright:

I haven't had a problem with anyone on this forum ... and I hope no-one has had any problems with me  :dontknow:
Everyone's pretty cool ... some are more opinionated than others but that's true everywhere. I think the advice to use emoticons (or whatever else works) to make sure that people know you are joking/being sarcastic is good advice. It's easy to get the meaning screwed up with text and given that we have a worldwide contingent here the text/language thing needs to be more carefully considered.

One last thing, we should all just try to take a breath before posting a harsh reply. If ya think someone is 'having a go' as we say in Aus, make sure before you go off at them in public. It seems to me that the few threads that I've seen get heated started going south over a misunderstanding ... "Are you lookin at me .... are you looking at ME! ... Oh, your NOT lookin' at me ... ok then, excuse me"! Just try to relax people ... let's make the assumption that people are NOT 'having a go' and start from there.

Love to you all brothers & sister/s ... now where's the big hug emoticon?

I guess everyone FAILED to notice the big "IGNORE" button under each member's name, just in case he/she doesn't particularly like someone?  :icon_scratch:

An obvious issue I see would be from a few members who seem to have that false set of entitlement to say whatever he/she pleases, just because he/she has a massive post-count.    For some reason, people seem to think their post counts are status symbols.  :icon_scratch:

I'm in the same boat as you are; I don't have an issue with anyone here, and I just do my best to stay out of peoples' drama.  I think one of the things that happens is that people just get sucked into responding to "verbal hand-grenades," as I believe they were referred to earlier in this thread.  People respond to them with good intentions of defending something, and the next thing ya know, it's off to the races.  People need to take a step back and make sure they aren't actually heating things up instead of cooling them off.  There are a lot of "good samaritans" with good intentions who just get baited right into flame wars, and before they know it, it's too late.

I dunno, maybe it's just to the point the staff needs to be less tolerant of such behavior, but at the same time, that comes at a cost.  NOBODY likes to belong to a forum that's run like a concentration camp, but at the same time, sometimes you need to give up a little bit of freedom for the greater good.  Those who normally follow the rules shouldn't have an issue with a crackdown on the rules.

All opinions about anything aside I don't think I have "meet" anyone here I wouldn't buy a beer and let him/her feel up my guitars IRL. Even Cagey! <grin>

True dat.... :icon_thumright:

Aww! Y'all are turnin' my head! <grin>

Some people's skin is so thin it makes wet tissue paper look like Kevlar. As far as I'm concerned, that's their cross in life to bear. I didn't name 'em. I just call 'em as I see 'em. I realize my opinions are not always popular, but that's neither my intent nor my concern. All I worry about is whether or not I pass along opinions that are well-considered and facts that can be proven. I'm just here to learn from others and teach what I know, and if I can have fun in the meantime, that's icing on the cake.

You, sir, are probably the biggest problem on this forum.  :toothy10:

Well, good. That gives me something to work on. Gotta get rid of that "probably" part <grin>

Quitcher bitchin'! Next thing you know, I'll say something hurtful and you'll be cryin', and your mascara will be ruined. Then what will people say? That you look like Alice Cooper? I don't think so.

I can't believe you just said that!  Are you trying to insinuate that I'm a girl and wear makeup?  How dare you!  IT'S NOT MAKEUP, IT'S CORPSE-PAINT!

Oh, really?

I'm not insinuating anything, especially not that you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny. All I'm saying is you don't look like Alice Cooper. Or de debbil.
