Are you saying I is fat??? I am actually a regular sized person locked up on a weird freakishly large fat body!

Funny you should say that, the last time my girl went down on me was actually the last time I seen her...

Its Friday, looks like we've all made it through another week.  For a little while it seemed like anarchy was taking over, but I submit that we've hopefully solved our problems and ended the week better for the discussion.  Contrast this little disturbance with the London riots, and you can see that our problems are not that bad at all here on our friendly forum.  I may not always agree with everyone all the time, but I love you guys (and Hannaugh) just the same.  Enjoy playing your guitars this weekend.  :occasion14:

Given that this forum is pretty biased towards the Strat/Tele, it's doubtful any guitar shape but a Strat/Tele would ever win GOTM, and no, I'm not saying that just because I'm the only person who voted for my guitar last month.   :icon_biggrin:  It's just the way it is.

Now that's sarcasm, right?  I look at the top of the page and don't see a Tele or strat.  Last month, I remember a bass winning.

I am complaining about the negative people here.  Wyliee, you say there are good people here and there are a
couple but, people who post fat pictures mocking me in a sneaky way are not good people.

My posts were directed to Mark and Marko, NOT you. I have absolutely no idea what you look like or how much you weigh. The picture in your avatar, as others have mentioned, has been on the internet for a while, so I know that it is not you in the picture, and therefore, it is safe to poke fun at the stereotype it portrays, when making comments to other members that do not mind it. I know for a fact that Mark and Marko did not mind my comments directed toward them. I even asked Marko if my post about him in a Superman painting offended him in any way, and he said that it did not.

I am at a complete lack of understanding for how you would be getting the notion that my posts were directed toward you. They were clearly shots at Mark and Marko, and clearly jokes.

Sounds like a plan for all!  Hoist your favorite beverage and enjoy.

Gee, where were the Admin or Moderators when someone here called me a "douche" for simply expressing my opinion about something (I think it was related to guitar amplifiers, and I was fairly new here when it happened)??

:icon_scratch:

Yet some guys do a little ribbing and use a little sarcasm in a thread about distortion pedals, and they're all over it.  :dontknow:

honestly, I think we also need a thread on "Admiral board conduct", or even "Colonel board conduct", just to be sure we've got all the bases covered. But maybe that's just me.  :icon_jokercolor:

Ah, now I recognise this place again :)

I agree with that there are a lot of "your opinion is wrong!" thrown around here and there, some of which might have come from me, and I apologize for that. Though, however, I do think it would be in our interest to discuss opinions and their origins/facts without turning to personal assaults. My Apple-post for example was quite a bit of a venting-post but it also started quite a discussion and I believe my posts were misinterpreted here and there, however, it didn't turn into a flame-war which I think is a positive thing.

Don't really know what more to add except that I strongly like this forum. If you would compare this to a lot of other forums I go to, this is like a calm breeze. :occasion14:

It seems to me that there are some oldsters here who know about joking with each other and a comment directed between us may inadvertently hit another target? It has nothing to do with "seniority ranks higher", simply that I know who some of these people are and we've been at it for a while... I missed whatever the big blowup was, and I probably would've ignored it, but I think it's likely that if a poster with 1000+ entries says something nasty, it's aimed at another poster with 1000+ entries, because we have hides as thick as hippopotamuses (who are not fat, merely amply-provisioned). Except for Max, because he had like 5,000 posts before he owned more than a couple knobs and a used straplock.

I concur as to the general truth - it's the folks who feel comfortable in the forum who will be a little abrasive with others who have been around for a while.

But I do find that, as a group, we can be extremely unwelcoming to the poor soul whose first post in the forum is in the Gear for Sale or Trade folder.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to suss out whether Tobias was pulling our collective leg... it's either Andy Kaufman-level genius, or something else entirely.

This perfectly illustrates my point.  I saw the sarcasm in your post and moved on.  But that was only possible having read your comments elsewhere and understanding how you tend to post.  Not everyone has that background.  Look how quickly the comment derailed this thread.

Further, we need to bear in mind this is an international forum.  For some, English is a second, third or fourth language.  Even if their written English is quite good, do not expect everyone to fully grasp the subtle nuances and cultural references.  The same goes for any cultural references.

In general, I agree with Jusatele's comments but will add this:  For some, arguing on the internet forums is a recreational hobby.  Thinking of ways to irritate someone or stir the pot might be fun for you (generic *you*, not Jusatele specifically), but negatively affects the forum as a whole.  This is the 'black cloud' referenced in our Guidelines.  Throwing a verbal hand grenade into a thread and derailing it has become more common.

Enjoy the information available on the forum and the social aspects it provides.  Just be aware that you are fully responsible for your own comments and the impact they may have.

:rock-on:

Have to testimony on this... When I started posting here, long time ago (May 2007) I had really difficult to understand some of the "traditional quotes"... Once I even understood that Gregg was saying a bad thing about my post... He said "taste like chicken"  :help: Even now, 4 years past, sometimes I still need to check the meaning of what people are trying to say...

If there needs to be more moderation on the forum, or the staff here is feeling overwhelmed, my suggestion is to seek out some of the more positive members here and offer opportunities to be moderators.

+1  :icon_thumright:

I haven't had a problem with anyone on this forum ... and I hope no-one has had any problems with me  :dontknow:
Everyone's pretty cool ... some are more opinionated than others but that's true everywhere. I think the advice to use emoticons (or whatever else works) to make sure that people know you are joking/being sarcastic is good advice. It's easy to get the meaning screwed up with text and given that we have a worldwide contingent here the text/language thing needs to be more carefully considered.

One last thing, we should all just try to take a breath before posting a harsh reply. If ya think someone is 'having a go' as we say in Aus, make sure before you go off at them in public. It seems to me that the few threads that I've seen get heated started going south over a misunderstanding ... "Are you lookin at me .... are you looking at ME! ... Oh, your NOT lookin' at me ... ok then, excuse me"! Just try to relax people ... let's make the assumption that people are NOT 'having a go' and start from there.

Love to you all brothers & sister/s ... now where's the big hug emoticon?
