I suppose this technically isn't "just out of the box" - after all, I did attach the tuners and applied the chrome decal logo - but it did arrive today, and I'd like to share some pictures.

I've got to say that this is one of the most beautiful fretless necks that I've ever seen.  (Then again, all my fretless Gecko necks are beautiful, so I'm a bit biased.)  You can really see the vibrant textures in the Ziricote board.  It doesn't have quite as much "spider webbing" as other pieces out there, but that's just fine with me.  I prefer more of a subtle look.  :)

And yes, the laminate stripes on the back are indeed Purpleheart.  This was a special order that I placed, with much assistance (and helpful advice) from Wyliee.  It is actually the first Warmoth neck that I purchased as a custom order, not from the Showcase as I usually do.  This neck will eventually be installed on my all-Purpleheart Gecko body, as part of the upcoming "Great Neck Swap of '09".

Thanks again to the people at Warmoth for such outstanding woodworking and stellar customer service!

PS - The wife wasn't too happy with this.  I'm letting her buy another expensive purse.

You have six fretless Gecko's, right?

"letting" her? If she stops at just the purse, count yer blessings, son. :laughing11:

Hummmmm It's time to start the "Guitar/Bass Comunist Revolution!!!" Charing decently all these good intruments that some people have... Guess who I chose to get something? :evil4:

:icon_jokercolor:

Looks awesome!

Thanks for the compliments.  Tonight I was able to install the neck on its Gecko body, and it sounds wonderful.  Ziricote has a lot of the hardness and "zing" of ebony, but with a nice amount of "warmth" like rosewood.  I'll record some sound clips shortly.

When the giving starts, you'll be #3 on my list.  :)

Yep, and #7 is in the planning stages.  :help:

Heh.  She earns her own disposable income, and she already has quite a purse collection.  We've reached an understanding.  :toothy11:

That is a seriously nice neck! I have a similar one on a guitar and I love it. I could see where it work very well for bass.

BTW welcome to the board. I've seen you on another forum as well. Will this bass have some Lane Poors in it?

No - it has actually been mounted to my existing all-purpleheart Gecko body with the 3 SGD humbucking pickups.  The ziricote wood really makes the pickups sound better (or vice versa) since it's a brighter wood.

The original neck (purpleheart) was a bit too "warm" for these pickups.  It is now waiting to be mounted to another Gecko body, for another experiment.  :)
