Here's a special neck.  This one has a fingerboard made of dense green Ipe, with laminate stripes of Bubinga on the back.  The Gecko inlay and fretless lines are Ebony.

The color and grain are absolutely stunning!  It has a nice greenish tint that I haven't found in many other woods.  This wood is sometimes called "Greenheart", but my kids are calling this one "Boogerwood" instead.  :)

Thanks again to all the great folks at Warmoth for making the high quality necks and bodies.  Results have been consistently spectacular.

Great! Looks beautifull!!

Ipê is REALLY hard!!! It's from Brazil, don't know if it growls in other places too

For sure, also a.k.a. Brazilian Walnut, is the hardest wood I believe Warmoth uses. At 3684 on the Janka scale, there's only 2 other woods harder, Brazilian Ebony @ 3692 and Lignum vitae @ 4500. And Warmoth doesn't use those..

And it's usually very beautiful too.... :icon_thumright:

Beautiful.  I do have a request, quit posting these Geckos.  I am a lefty and cannot order one.  It is killing me.

WOW! :o
That fingerboard is absolutely stunning. :icon_biggrin:

The area around the 12th "fret" side dots looks kind of like a woven fabric or something.

Yet again beautiful, just beautiful.
That green colour won't just match with any body so I can't wait to see what your plan is with it.

Black korina, dragon burst.

Up to your usual fantastic combinations I see.
Yet another Tubby.twins exotic gecko extravaganza.

I am in awe.

It works with the Wenge, doesn't it?

Just do a Wenge body, or at least a Wenge top.

Worst case scenario, solid black works with anything.

A mostly-wenge gecko is going to weigh like 15lbs. Not that it wouldn't rock, but holy hernia Batman!

I'm just saying, it won't work with just any body wood. Ipe and bloodwood or padouk would make a bass only fit for the colour blind.

Purpleheart! Then it'll be a Hulk Gecko.

Every time I think I've seen just about everything you could make a neck out of...

Ipe? When did they invent that? I've been working with wood for many years, and this is the first I've ever heard of it. Guess I'll have to come out of my cave more often <grin>

That's a beautiful piece of work. I gotta think it's going to be a joy to play.

Warmoth has had Ipe pieces in the fingerboard gallery for a few years now.
You never noticed all this time?

Nope. Somehow, it's gotten by me. Same with Wenge, really, although I at least noticed that. I just wasn't interested in it until I joined this forum and started finding out some of the qualities the stuff has. I know it's no excuse, but it's not a particularly attractive name, when you get right down to it. Sounds sorta disgusting, actually <grin>

Dim: What's that on your shirt?
Dum: Where?
Dim: Up there, near your shoulder...
Dum: I don't know... it's kinda sticky...
Dim: Eeewww! It's Wenge!
Dum: Dag nab a ratajack! Get it off me!

But there are a million different ways people pronounce Wenge. At least one of them must sound ok to you.
I've heard Wen-gay, Wenj, Ven-ga, etc..
