The neck arrived Friday.  Should be done Monday but here's a sneak peek:

I was wondering when you were getting around to this one.  Looking pretty damn sweet so far!

Is that a BadAss II bridge?  How about a break down on the components?  How's it sound/play?  Enquiring minds want to know  :dontknow:

Just my 2 cents.....but it looks like there is 2 cents on the floor there.  :icon_thumright:

Very cool bass, my friend.  The neck looks like it goes on forever!

Hey guys, the bridge is the Hipshot/Warmoth single string, the pickup is a GFS, bartolini preamp, Hipshot ultralites.  Upper fret access is difficult, what can I say.  Dunno how much I'll use the 24-fret extension.  I can rest my thumb on it though.  I put Ernie ball slinkys on it and I think it sounds pretty good... a huge range of sounds with different playing styles, and an even bigger range from the 3-band EQ.  I am not really a bassist though so I can only plunk around a bit... and it does not sound that good through my guitar 4x12.  I'll get a bassist friend to try it out and see what he thinks.  It is very fun, though!  The glue holding the nut on broke off while I was tuning up.... I guess the nut slot was too small and the string was binding tightly.  I'll have to repair that before I can do a good setup, because the nut keeps pulling away from the fretboard as I tune.

I had the same problem on my Gecko necks.  I used a modest amount of super glue (cyanoacrylate) and some gentle pressure to reglue the nut.  The glue will cure within about a minute or two.  The nut hasn't wiggled since.  :)

Very nice looking bass.

Good question... I drilled holes diagonally through the wood between adjacent bolt holes.  I threaded some strands of speaker wire through each.  I also put a ground wire into the control cavity, also made of bare speaker wire, running into the nearest bolt hole where I just frayed the strands a bit.  Then I tightened the bolts down on top of the whole mess.  I measure about 2 ohms between the high G and the output jack... this doesn't seem to be causing any trouble, I presume the resistance comes from the black coating on the bridge parts.

It's the alnico one.

I got the knobs on and it's lookin' sharp... I still need to tweak the setup but it plays pretty smoothly already.... wenge makes a hell of a neck, I've never felt anything like it!

Thanks for the tip.  I actually had the nut fall off of my LP as well... W needs to get better glue for their nuts, or something.
