Fullbore vs muff ?

Hey there, i have an mxr fullbore metal which works great as an agressive mid boost (boss mt2 ish i think?) i typically run the treble at 0 because it's a bit harsh. I can actually get some muff tones out of it with the bass and gain up a bit but...

I've never owned a muff so i'm not sure if i'm fooling myself or i'm at risk of buying a pedal that sounds too much like one i already own? Either way this pedal always has a "squarer than a brick up a very round arsehole" type of gain sound too it so it does the smashing pumkin octave and and third thing quite well however you set it, which is interesting because i've always thought of the muff as a really bad distortion pedal that ended up doing a really cool thing, it's kind of like the whole univibe leslie thing...

Well, my personal thought.  Fuzz’s are best with single coils.  Next , which Muff? There’s been a half dozen types and they do sound different.  IE Rams Head vs Russian vs Pi vs etc.

I have a fullbore and a big muff and I never thought they sounded remotely similar on the spectrum of distortion/OD/fuzz pedals. I don't think you're taking too much of a risk by buying one. Buy one used and if you don't like it, sell it for the same price you paid.

That's a good way to go, and the way I get most of my pedals now. You lose very little, if at all, if you decide to flip it and they're not like tube amps or guitars with their attendant personalities - risk is pretty low. They either work and do what they're supposed to or not. Nearly everything I've bought has been in very good condition, some like new.
