Full Size Plans

Does anyone know where I could get full size plans for a BC Rich Eagle style guitar?  I fell in love with that shape and want to carve my own down the road somewhere.  Any help?

Hi.

Some companies - Fender, in particular - have a support section with body and wiring diagrams in PDF format. Those can be opened in Adobe Illustrator and scaled to actual size, easily enough (as long as you have a couple of "real life" dimensions to match/scale to).

I just visited BC Rich's site, looking for something similar, but there doesn't seem to be.

But I know I could draw the thing in Illustrator easily enough (are we just talking the body perimeter?), with some good, straight-on photo references or templates. And then if I had a couple of accurate references measurements (body at the widest point and/or overall length), I could scale it up to that, and you'd have your full-size scale plan, e-mailed to you as a PDF or whatever. Getting into the other stuff (pickup and bridge routing, controls, etc.) would require a bit more work and research (and lots of accurate info and measurements) you'd have to provide (I don't have any BC Rich guitars at my disposal), but I've done it before...I usually do my Tele and Dano mockups in line-art/outline style at full scale in Illustrator, then export - and shrink them down a skootch - for "dressing up" in Photoshop.

Otherwise, fire up Google and search around for Eagle plans...maybe something's out there?

Wow! funny you should post this today, I can't help you. But I am also looking for full size downloadable drawings that I can use to create Templates for Any and all guitars.

this looks like a good place for most guitar templates, I just wanna make my own,  I might have to break down and get the buy 3 get 4th free.

I'm thinking strat, tele, flying V, baretta to start with

That company has some BC Rich models...maybe the original poster could e-mail them and request an Eagle template? Worth a shot...

I sent them an email about it, so we'll see how that goes.  They have a pretty good pic on the website, and I would just need the perimeter really, and would carve the top and everything myself.  I don't know where I'd get the measurements from, I don't know anyone who owns one.

hey

you might want to check out http://www.guitarplansunlimited.com/

they have a lot of plans there and will do custom work as well. I got plans from them for my PRS build ...cut out the portion with the body shape and took it down to Kinko's and had it laminated.

I'm looking at this site now, and I think this is more what what I'm looking for, than full out templates.  Thanks!

remember to have the thing laminated...this makes drawing out the shape on the body blank a snap. also, check your mesurements before cutting. I bought a neck plate and pickup ring to make sure that they would fit with the cuts i was making. I cheated a little on the one that i did. I had ordered the PRS shape and tele deluxe shape (with the strat neck pocket). I just taped the two shapes together after i laminated them....should have put them together befor the lamination but didnt think about it till afterwards.

sorry mate i don't know of any eagle plans, but on the subject, heres a website with other guitar plans.. best thing is they're free. You just need CAD,

I got some sweet tele plans off here.  :cool01:

Here's a listing for some free CAD programs - does anyone have any experience with these, regarding ease of use, memory requirements etc.? I took some classes in CAD way back in the previous century, they're probably kicking around still in my head. :laughing7:
