I thought we did this to get away from using tubes?  :icon_scratch: :dontknow:

For me, absolutely. Actually its primarily getting away from large loud electromechanical coloration making up an irreducible part of my sound. Tubes are just a part of that. I was a tube snob for 25+ years and built 4 or 5 amps. It was fun. I may still build my JCM800 just because i have all the stuff, but the 412 is the biggest reason I might not. But I'm tickled pink to be getting sweet gritty crunch and squish and chime into headphones while my son sleeps in the next room, and not have to mic, or lug hat crap around. And to top all that off, with ye current deals on used 11R's its even a heck of a lot more cost effective.

Sorry to completely derail this thread, but I wonder if there is a market for tube powered FRFR monitors specifically for the modeling amp crowd.

What do ya think?

The earlier Atomics prior to the CLRs did that.

Dweezil was also using them, not sure if he is currently.

So the F1220D is a new offering and has better specs on paper: power, lf extension and excursion. I sold a few things on Reverb, so I preordered one. If I need more for backline bass I'll do something eelse just for that.

Necro post. V-drums are now the driving thing, I still have my acoustic drums, but they're stored in the cats room.  Electronic drums just works better for recording and practice. Really not wanting to build but I don't think I can buy anything I want under $500.

I'm also debating the synth stuff. I got it, it works, it's fun, but... synth doesn't need to leave the house.  I think I just need 400W into 8ohms and a suitable tweeter, cross that 15 over @ 2khz and call it a monitor.
